I mean you are getting their number 8 and 14 prospects according to MLB.com along with a lotto ticket. I mean two top ten organization prospects would have been about right and that's about what we got.

Right. Seems like quantity prioritized over quality. The Mets have a number of starting pitching prospects in AA and AAA who would have been better targets.

Has any top prospect been dealt this deadline? The Phillies traded for a better, younger player with two more years of control and got the Phillies #6 prospect. I think maybe top 49 prospect or something. We got the Mets #6 prospect who was top 92 before the start of the year.

What’s the point of this then? Getting low chance of succeeding bodies for an All-star ML closer….
This team doesn’t need bodies…..it needs talent….at whatever level.

Ig RH had 2 years of contract control, it ups the ante. He's a 2 month rental for Petes sake. To get a top 10 and a top 15 from a teams farm is pretty good.
Another side note. The Metscare outstanding at both drafting, and developing pitching.
Im fine with the return. My fear was they weren't going to find a taker.

It CAN'T be that hard. John Mozeliak must have a lottery ticket fetish or something.
The return for a mediocre Jack Flaherty was better than this.

20 year old SS/3B with a 123 RC+ in High A ball. Pretty talented.
22 year old starting pitcher in High A with a 2.62 ERA.
Talent......at whatever level.

The harsh reality is they most likely won’t be very competitive next season with payroll most likely dropping even more
