He is hitting the ball really hard right now, and has been getting some doubles along with his singles. If this continues, then things will be looking up.

Only if offered a compelling package, which I doubt anyone team would offer. Wouldn’t dump him for a lottery ticket like many others seem to want to do.
I guess the question is….do they still think Walker is a lotto ticket?
I’m leaning to trade him
It would be selling crazy low. There is zero reason to do that. He’s not blocking anyone so why get rid of him for pennies if n the dollar. Makes no sense

I don't think Walker has the "want to" to be really good, thus I would trade him.

He lacks confidence and not sure that is changing.

For a dude 6"6" 250, he has no hitting base, it all arms, no lower body drive.

He is tradeable.

And midseason might be the ideal time.
Contenders aren't looking for untapped potential in trades.
Yeah, maybe. But right this very moment you can sell him as someone who is turning it around, and will benefit from a change of scenery.
Consider this.
As a general framework, would you trade Walker to Atlanta for Murphy (both under control for 4 years, I believe)?
Which would then make Crooks shoppable as another high value trade piece.
Imagine Murphy holding down the C position until Bernal arrives.
ATL's outfield is a mess other than Acuna - and they would surely covet Walker.
To be clear, I am not advocating for this but am simply providing a scenario in which trading Walker might be a reasonable move.
I guess it would depend on what you have in mind for Crooks, but this club needs young pitching. I like Murphy and that contract, but adding a pricey, aging catcher would not be my first choice in 2025.

Agree, he seems to be just trying to make off balance contact on a lot of swings
I root for him but I see little confidence in his approach

I am not advocating anything.
Some have posited Walker may not have value or should not be traded when he has untapped potential remaining.
Simply providing a scenario demonstrating both of those assumptions may be incorrect.
Atlanta needs an outfielder - and they have an extra catcher.
STL has too many outfielders - and they need a RH hitting power bat.
You are correct.
STL needs young pitching.
Crooks, though a good prospect himself, might be one way to acquire another pitcher.
Point is, folks need to think is more complex terms than "too soon" or "not enough value".
It is the ROSTER (both needs and surpluses), not just a debate over a single player, which should be viewed when considering who should be traded, when, and for whom.
Many have spent years stating STL should not trade Mootbaar - and those very same people are now clamoring for that very thing (too late).
I, on the other hand, alone correctly understood and advised for the past 3 years, that he should be traded to address other needs.
Should Walker be traded?
Under the right circumstances, yes.
I provided one example of how a right circumstance could present itself.

You, but not you alone, have always known Nootbaar sucks. He’s been the topic of a few spirited debates between me and the wife. She thinks he’s handsome, which could be true but is subjective. I think he’s made of glass, of which there is no doubt. The correct baseball decision has always been - No to Noot.

I'd definitely be open to trading Walker. He's not good ATM. Potential is not everything, and at this point I'm not sure he's got the potential we all thought.
He's never hit great in AAA, and since his breakout start to 2023, he's been an awful hitter at the MLB level. 0.619 OPS last year + a 0.600 OPS this year? DEFINITELY MOVABLE. I'll take a pitcher with high MLB potential vs a corner outfielder. We need young arms more than an OFer.

Should’ve brought in McGwire a long time ago to work with him. 6’6 250 should be launching moonshots

I'd trade him and most of the ML roster if C. Bloom is making the deal or Mo at least is executing the deal Bloom wants.

Like Winfield, Judge and other big men, he needs to adjust his stance. It's mind-boggling that they/he haven't tried something new since the old way isn't allowing him the balance to adjust to pitches.

That wide open stance being up on front toe was the most asinine thing I’ve seen. Who lets him go through minors, struggle in ML, back down and still has that batting stance…..the Minor league system must be wasteland when it comes to coaching
