If we traded him to Atlanta I would hope it’d be in a bigger deal for someone like Strider or Austin Riley.
Nothing wrong with aiming high but come on. You don't often see stars and iffy youngsters swapped even up and what else do the Cards have to offer in a bigger deal that Atlanta could use? Donovan I guess if they bail on Albies. Liberatore? Winn? That would be a big one. Winn would get their attention but I think it'd take a lot more to pry loose either player you mentioned.
Walker is still just 23 (he's only ~6 months older than JJW who everyone is convinced is an untouchable second coming). No way I'd trade him for relief help in a year when this team has a 0% chance to beat any of the 6 best teams in the league in a 7 game series.
Agree, the potential is there. I think the Cards moved him through the system too fast and then changed his position learning at MLB level. He just turned 23. JW is under team control for some time. He is worth being patient.

I doubt seriously if any pre-arb Cards are traded at the deadline. Pending free agents and Nado only. Gray or Contreras are long shots.
