1st base needs to be the position, after WillyC is gone, that C. Bloom finds (via trade or FA) a true MOTO power hitter.
Yes, and there is NO statistical support for the statement that Burly is a very good first baseman, so I'm glad you didn't go there.
WillyC
+6 OAA
+2 DRS

Burly
0 OAA
0 DRS

No chance I'd go there.
And Burly had a lot more experience there.
Let's hope I. Hererra takes to LF (appears they're going to ticket him there in 2026) as well as (former catcher too) WillyC has taken to 1st base!
That would be huge!
Having him in LF and maybe Josh Baez patrol Rf and a good deal of CF would be huge for this team's future.
VSII can't hit well but he's especially poor vs. LHP, and Baez could sub in CF for him.
Donny can go back to super-sub - for JJ at 2b, for Nado at 3b, and some outfield. Effectively full-time.
Then replace Pages with Crooks or Bernal and hey, this lineup could improve a lot.
Too bad Hence and Roby can't stay healthy and Mathews has struggled or there would be far more hope.
Huge!

To finally have an OF'er who can actually hit!

The weak OF has been this teams bane for way too long, hopefully C. Bloom has some plans to fix that mess.

I still think Hence, who I've been clamoring they move to the closer role for over two years now, can be salvaged if they'd just do it.
"To finally have an OF'er who can actually hit!" Burleson can hit. He just needs to hit more HRs as a corner outfielder or 1B.
Not like Hererra

And he has to show his lack of fitness doesn't lead to another second half collapse.

We're all rooting for him, but he needs to put together a full season.

(and he's a DH)
The only reason Burleson is even sniffing the OF is because JW is injured, and both he and Noot have not hit. If we had two corner OFers who could hit, then Burley would only see DH and the odd game to relieve WC at first. He is not a good everyday OFer!

"Not like Hererra". Seriously? Right now, Burleson is at least equal to Herrera as a MLB hitter.
Are you dense or just plain dumb?

Let me educate you about Hererra:

Hererra career:
.300 .376 .444 .819
129 OPS+

Burleson career:
.265 .315 .418 .732
102 OPS+

Hererra w/RISP career:
.312 .368 .488 .856

Burleson w/RiSP career:
.264 .305 .399 .705

Herrera career 2 outs and RiSP:
.276 .333 .466 .799

Burleson career 2 outs and RiSP:
210 .271 .364 .635

Hererra career High Leverage:
.330 .405 .511 .916

Burleson career High Leverage:
.246 .289 .364 .653

Are you seeing a trend here?

Herrera is a vastly superior hitter to Bumbles, not even close.

Well no one likes my idea. Again I’m a man alone on an island, a boat on the reef with a hole in the bow.

That makes me a nut; If one liked it then there’s strength in numbers. But alone is a nut case. Dam.

I still contend Gorman Donovan Winn and JJ make a fine fielding infield.

With no replacement for Nado in sight I’d think all JJ reps at short could convert to third. Same vision. Same side of field.

Donovan and Winn are near GG performance.

That leaves first. When Gorman hits his weight that could finalize a nice infield.

You know you suck when you bump your own thread. That’s me. Suck (bleep).

I just had to do it to get just one poster to side just a little with me. Then I won’t be crazy. Nuts. Psycho.

Gorman Donovan Winn and JJ would make a formable defense and would hit league average or better, with Gorman pop at first.

Clears up infield clog. Clears up DH.

Question. If Gorman was a stud, would you play him at third? Regardless of defense. Second?

No no no no no no no. Oh mama Mia mama Mia.
