Because Marmol is incompetent.

Managerial Malpractice not to have set up his rotation weeks in advance where Gray would face the scrubbies.

To throw the scrubs BOTH Mikolas & Fedde, yet another blackmark to add to his resume of incompetency and why he has to be fired at seasons end.
Do you know how hard it is to set up a rotation marchup 4-5 weeks ahead of time? And then be able to stick to it? Marmol is playing with the hand he was dealt. You dont skip starts because you want a certain matchup in 3-4 weeks.
It didn’t need to take 4-5 weeks ahead of time. He could have looked at it the week before and simply said “we’re going to push you back 2 days”. Gives a veteran 2 days extra rest when we’ve gone through a month like June and sets him up against the rival Cubs. Also would have given some extra rest to the other SPs, too.

Tell that to Dave Duncan and Tony LaRussa.

Please tell us how hard it is look at a set schedule…..factor in your off days…..hold #1 back once or twice…..to be able to thrown him against the 1st place club you’re chasing…..perhaps TLR/Dunc should be put on retainer to figure out the complicated calculus for little OLI…..the excuses types on this forum attempting to explain an impossible today that was a regular occurrence in MLB a generation ago is beyond comprehension. Regression to complete failure and stupidity is literally only a year or 2 away

First you don't do it "4-5 weeks" in advance, it's done about 2 weeks out using a Guy like Matz for a start or a BP game.

And Managers have been doing it since like......forever.

C'mon RF, this isn't rocket science.

No doubt

I'd can his a z z at the ASB, put Descalso in charge for remainder of the season and then let Bloom hire "his" guy.
