It's that time of year again, where does your Screen Name come from?

Early 2000s and I was a lurker until one day I had something to say. I had the tv on in the background and as I looked at it while trying to think of a screen name, ESPN was airing an interview of Bobby Knight which inspired General.

Have not heard from Rollo Tomasi lately but that was from a great movie. Or I guess it could be from the writer or band.

That’s where I thought he was going with that as wellmoose-and-squirrel wrote: ↑06 Jul 2025 10:19 amand here I thought it was from the insurance commercials

Speaking of Gus, we also had a poster years ago called Barnburnerhotrivets wrote: ↑06 Jul 2025 08:52 am Gus Kyle used to be the sales manager and would actually sell tickets himself back in those simpler times. He was also the color man back when you could say color man. When a goalie caught a particularly hard shot Gus would say it must feel like a handful of hot rivets. Virtually nobody now would know what a rivet is or why it might be hot but I suspect Gus had some real jobs growing up. He was a funny guy- mostly unintentionally.

Based on a character from the Calvin and Hobbes strips.
Some would say there's a slight resemblance.

With all due respect to Charles Schulz, maybe the greatest comic strip everSpacemanSpiff wrote: ↑06 Jul 2025 10:38 am Based on a character from the Calvin and Hobbes strips.

My previous handle was Rollo Tomasi, so my current one is an extension from one of my favorite movies. Might be changing up for the new season to change the mojo.

When i made my screen name I couldn't envision the Blues ever winning the Cup. I honestly never thought we'd win the Stanley Cup and was okay with that. I just loved watching them, cheering for them and generally just thinking about them. I also thought it would be funny to just write, my screen name! My screen name!, if we ever won lol
It was great to be able to write that!

I did time at Crawford County RII on my elementary school tour of Missouri. 3rd grade in 1979 to be exact. Noel's place was a restaurant and the Greyhound bus station as well. As for my screen name, it is pretty obvious...TAFKAP wrote: ↑06 Jul 2025 09:44 amI wouldn't have gotten the Picard reference. That's cool. My grandparents used to have a cottage on the lake at Indian Hills in Cuba. My grandfather used to tell me about how Noel would have pickup games on it with the Blues players when it froze over in the mid 70's. He had a bar in town called Noel's Place, can't recall if it was open or closed, I was like 10 at the time. (mid 80's).Plagers4Ever wrote: ↑06 Jul 2025 09:32 am Plagers4ever
Mine is obvious to any fan who knows Blues history. An honor to three of my all-time favorite Blues players;
Barc Plager
Bobby Plager
Noel Picard (#4)

I live in Lynbrook, Long Island with my nosy and intrusive wife and a giant son who is quite whiny. My other whiny son lives next door with his beautiful wife and kids. They have a satellite dish so I spend a lot of time over there.

If you ever played soccer, you understand “butsir.”
Played D-1 in college and reffed club, h.s. and college for many years, too many. Lol

Courtnall was a warrior. I've never forgot a game where Courts took an elbow to the nose in the corner. Whistle blew and Courts skated to the bench with his nose sideways on his face. He went and sat down, the trainer put a towel over his face and put his nose back in place. And 20 something seconds later Court was back out on the ice for the next puck drop. All that happened during a commercial break and the announcers highlighted it and talked about it when they came back. I've never forgot that and always thought of Courtnall as an absolute warrior ever since. Great guy to pay homage to.
