Either is possible.

I can see that, although I do NOT want Winn leading off unless he really ups that horrible .290 OB% he had leading off in 2024.

If Bloom thinks Wetherholt can play SS, and that Winn’s offensive upside is limited, they could move Winn.

I don’t necessarily see that happening, but I wouldn’t totally rule it out, either.

Wetherholt is not expected to stick at SS at the MLB level.
Winn is a premium glove.
Bloom knows both of those truths.

I don't want what may be a franchise bat to be moved to a premium defensive position when we already have a GG caliber guy there.

Rather I want him to be comfortable at 2nd or 3rd and just concentrate on mashing.

Let's not complicate things.

Not a 3B.
Clearly best fit is 2b.
Other than that, I agree.
Keep Winn at ss and put Wetherholt on a pathway for 2b.
Easy.
Obvious.
Correct.

He played far more third base than shortstop in college. I think he fits best at second base but he doesn’t exactly have a noodle arm that won’t play at third. It’s very similar to arenados arm now. I imagine when he gets called up he’s going to move around a lot to help get other less versatile guys in the lineup.

In college, the best players play where needed.
In MLB, they almost always play where they are best suited.
I do not pretend to be a Wetherholt expert, but based on what I have read and seen, it is fairly obvious his best spot is 2b.

I'm sure Mo's planning to bring him up any day now as a final "parting gift" to the fans, ruining one last prospect before the door hits him on the way out.

I don't care where he plays as long as it isn't SS.

This club he needs his offensive exponentially over defense.

Winn is the SS.
No one will displace him for several years.
