He’s a good player but to get him for 8 years is going to cost serious money. Like $7+ at best and probably $8+ honestly bc you’re buying some ufa years. Do you feel ready to make a $60+ mil commitment to him? It’s not as cut and dry as it seemsdhsux wrote: ↑09 Jun 2025 17:46 pmSo he went from super star to just star performance or do you still have doubts?MiamiLaw wrote: ↑09 Jun 2025 15:58 pmYea he was incredible to start the year no doubt. But it wasn't just on the physical end that I saw the dip. Prior to the injury, his hockey sense seemed off the charts. He was seeing the whole ice and rarely made a bad play with the puck. He wasn't able to regain anything close to that post-injury.Stlcardsblues wrote: ↑09 Jun 2025 15:51 pmWhat I saw was Broberg looked like a legit top four D bordering on potential top 2 then got injured, he never looked the same post injury. I never felt he was fully healthy post injury. Hoping he can regain his form from early in the season.MiamiLaw wrote: ↑09 Jun 2025 12:02 pmI don't know. Broberg had times when he was amazing and other times when he wasn't. Now the learning curve for a d is much higher and he has all the tools, but I'd rather look at 4 years or so for him if possible. 7 or 8 would be a bit risky still in my opinion. I wouldn't be losing sleep if they went that route though.moose-and-squirrel wrote: ↑09 Jun 2025 11:59 amI want them both signed long term... asapMiamiLaw wrote: ↑09 Jun 2025 11:57 am I would give Holloway 8 years ASAP. Don't let him get more valuable.
Broberg on the other hand showed flashes and I am definitely intrigued for his future, but I don't think I'd back up the Brinks truck quite yet. A bridge deal with a higher AAV and lesser term would be preferable on him to me.
I agree he dropped off after the injury but what he provided thereafter was clearly a #3 role as a young player.
Great skater, led the D with his plus/minus, 29 points on 68 games 20 mins a night and no pp time doing it.
He can well grow into a # 2 no doubt about it, imo. It's all there for him.
