Let's not pretend he's had multiple shots and failed. He's 28 and has had a grand total of 160 ABs spread out over 3 seasons. 34 ABs this season and he has a higher OPS than Burly, Walker, or Gorman.

I'm not saying he's Boog Powell...but he just hasn't really had a legit shot to either succeed or fail in The Show.
He has a career .338 SLG%, it’s .324 this year. I get it that he hasn’t had all that many PAs, but when he’s had the chance he hasn’t done enough. At this point the only thing he does well in the MLB is walk a lot. He should be traded for a reliever/pitcher if they could get one for him.
I agree it's not where it needs to be (SLG).

But again...he hasn't been given a legit chance. I mean, our beloved Burly has a .343 SLG this season and a career .396, but he keeps getting chance after chance after chance (108 ABs this season and 1018 career).

Which is a reason that I don’t want either of them on the team. Guys like them with one tool (at most) aren’t good for the team. And neither of them are hitting enough with that tool to justify a roster spot.

I've always thought Bakers absolute ceiling is a r handed hitting Brandon Moss. It's pretty much time now to move him on to a team that will give him a shot.

The rockies should pick him up and put him at first or DH for a full season and see what happens

Seattle has 37 year old Donovan Solano as their rh first base bat currently hitting .148. Baker has the power potential to hit balls out in that park and would be a better option for them

Nothing against Baker who flashed power at AAA but it has not translated to the Majors.
Herrera over him for DH is a no brainer...and honestly I’d much rather have Pozo DH over him also!

It’s tough for it to translate into the majors when he wasn’t given consistent playing time. I would rather get rid of burly and keep baker. Baker hits lefties and does well pinch hitting against them and doesn’t need much playing time to be effective agsinst them. Herrera needs to play every day and he won’t do that with burly on the team and anyone that thinks burly is going to keep hitting based on a few games is fooling themselves

Ok but the Cards aren’t “losing” Baker he’s just going to AAA so he is still in the mix.

Strange take. Glad the org made the right call. Hopefully Herrera can pickup where he left off.
Not sure what is strange? All I did was post some facts and my opinion that I feel bad he hasn't had a legit opportunity.
I want the team to get better not worse.

Baker had a couple of problems getting playing time.

He isn't a good defender at a premium position. Only 1B or DH.
He is slow on the bases.
He hits RH and as a platoon that's the weak side.

His only asset is power and he didn't display that in the majors. In fairness he didn't get much of a shot. Sadly I suspect he isn't long for baseball and I wish him well. He got farther than anyone on this forum did.

So true. Hope he can extricate himself from this organization. Given regular ABs, he might have a MLB career of a few years (instead of several).
Extricate? More like plead for another team.
Is Baker getting $1,000,000 this year to play in Memphis? I did not think so?
