He'd bring back very little in a stand alone trade.

But

I can see him coupled w/R. Helsley or E. Fedde if the Cardinals aren't in contention.

Burleson and Hence will be traded to Tampa Bay for Kevin Cash and a player to be named.

This OP was not intended to be controversial. There has been discussion here, recently, on Burleson's role. And this link was interesting speculation.

Yes, an SI “reporter” regurgitating the baseless trade speculation of a Royals internet blogger definitely demanded yet another repetitive “Burly” thread from you.

I don’t think AB is a model of consistency either.

Also, regarding Contreras, are you basing this opinion on one game? Come on…
Contreras didn't show much good discipline at the plate, at times, yesterday. He's had that issue before. Hope it doesn't continue. He needs to take those outside pitches the other way more. Just like Arenado needs to.
Yesterday = 1 game.

WC has an .831 ops w stl.

And his numbers vs RHP last year was better than AB.

Come on, man…
Let's hope Contreras can be as durable as Burleson.
I agree w that.

Doesn’t change the fact you were judging WC on one game…
Like I said. "He's had that issue before".
How about Burleson’s issues?
Since you asked....

1. He's ridiculously slow.
2. DH is his only real position. He's a liability in the field.
3. He's absolutely helpless vs lefties.
4. He doesn't walk.
5. He chases pitches out of the strike zone which often results in weak contact.
6. His power is negligible. 41 XBHS in 595 PAs last season.

Did I miss anything?

Gorman is under team control for multiple seasons
and while Burleson is hitting better right now he doesn’t block Gorman.
Trade value is down right now.
Both will get their AB’s if Oli handles it correctly which is my main concern!

Cuse, I’m with you on your last statement concerning Oli. He’s gotta be on the clock to prove he can manage, support and position all of these younger players to succeed as best their talent can show.

Not a fan of Oli in general.
And if is feeling the hot seat he may not be the best bet to navigate manipulating these lineups?
Prefer a veteran Manager.
Let’s see?

Right now, Contreras seems pull happy. He needs to take those sliders the other way. Unless they hang one. If he continues to have contact issues, he should be lowered in the batting order. Another thing, it wouldn't have been a bad idea to pinch hit Baker for Burleson against the LHP at that point of the game with the nice lead.

Advocating a PH for Burleson? Are you OK?

The Cardinals have had some fine offense, so far. Even without Contreras and Burleson doing much.

You are so obtuse!

You don't lower a player with 10 years in the league who had a 136 OPS+ last season after two games. That is simply beyond ridiculous!

Nice call, Marshall! Let's take a look at that "nice, steady progress" from a "fine MLB hitter, indeed".

Burly 2025:

.250/.296/.343/.638/79
4 doubles/2 HR/11 RBI

THAT is a below average MLB hitter, you silly old man!
Tell me...where is the progress?

Richard, let me remind you how pathetic Contreras was hitting earlier in the season.
