Montgomery needs to speak to why his teams so constantly have such a dramatic Jekyll and Hyde affect in pressure games.
These last two games specifically have had such a drastic difference between start and finish. They don’t even look like the same team from period one to three.
Don’t tell me it’s endurance. The signs of exhaustion would be obvious. All I’m seeing is a complete quit.

I don't see it as quit.
I see it as being overwhelmed.
Exactly. I know outclassed is a trigger word for some, but it’s the truth. Jets are just in a different class.

What did the jets do that prevented the blues from playing the body?

The Jets are good…let’s not act like they aren’t a good team because of past failures. Right now their best players have been better then our best players. You are never in trouble until you lose on home ice, but I’d say the Blues are definitely in trouble. I haven’t seen enough buy in and willing to pay the price for 60 mins. Parayko is terrible right now…no way he should be on the ice with the goalie pulled…puck looked like a live grenade on his stick.
If the Jets had Ehlers and Villardi this is likely a sweep.
Come on now, if the Blues had Holloway it might be 2-0 the other way. You're better than that, really.
Otherwise, they contained Thomas and Kyrou, Blues left Connor alone in the slot. It's not like the Blues are losing 4-1. Line matchups in St. Louis and a bit of crowd adrenaline could tip the scales. We'll see.
Dylan Holloway is a very good young player, but he’s not the reason it’s 2-0.
Really, now. You know this . . . How?
I was not whining over the Blues not having Holloway, I was pointing out the one-sided slant in the comment re: the absence of Ehlers and Villardi.
There is no slant , they are missing two of their top 6 players.
And the Blues are missing one of their top-3. Fair is fair, why point out who they are missing and not the Blues? It's akin to posting how things might be different if the Blues had Holloway and their guys were still out.
Because everyone knows we are missing Holloway, some are forgetting about The Jets missing Ehlers and Villardi.

If anything, I’d say wore them out with better passing and clogging up the neutral zone. I’m disappointed they quit hitting too. But I don’t think it was an effort issue, but a talent issue.

If we could find a way to stop scoring on ourselves and make the Jets score I think this would be more interesting. The Suter goal last game and Snuggy tonight are really hurting our momentum when we do have some.
Parayko interferred with Binner on the Jets second goal. He knocked Binner’s stick away as Binner tried to move the other direction to stop the shot. Both Jets goals were helped by our own players. It’s the only way the Jets could score tonight.
I wonder why so many of our players are making mistakes and not capitalizing on opportunities?

These guys were too tired to play physical after the second period?
I don’t buy it. One or two lines or players fade off, okay. The ENTIRE team to a man just completely and abruptly changes their approach from one period to the next, that’s something else.
Go back and watch. They didn’t even start the third period taking the body. It was such a glaring change to start the period it was almost dumbfounding.
Again, I want to hear it from Montgomery. What in his opinion was different from period 2 to 3?
Just reading your opinion Westcliffe.
I thought Thomas had a lot of stamina but flat and we really need to crash. The net like Schiefele did to score and to bowl over Binnington.
I think you’re right…. after banging all those players on the boards in the first two periods we needed to score and couldn’t
Similar to the first game, but the first game was worse in the third

The Jets’ size and strength are wearing the Blues down, much like the Blues did to teams in 2019. On D, there is a lack of physicality and after the big hit in the first period, Kyrou wanted nothing to do with puck battles or greasy areas. For Snuggerud, it’s a big jump from the NCAA to NHL playoff hockey. These are BAMs and they hit you every single time. That takes some getting used to.
