I definitely would. And Scott, too. You don't have to squint hard to see he has value to a contender. Not value that brings back a ton of value, but value nonetheless. Seems there's always a playoff team or two that has a track star on the roster that they can bring in to pinch run.

No.
And along with Davis, there are other guys who I wouldn't hesitate to trade if they are in a similar spot because we need to make some decisions on our futures now that the system has improved greatly. Even if it is technically buying and you can get something of value for a prospect who doesn't really have a future in the organization. Get something out of them if possible.

Realized I didn't answer the question clearly enough.
No, I don't protect Davis. But I also don't let it get to the point where I need to. He should be gone-gone in a week in some trade.

There are very few in the system that should be protected. The two Baez, Bernal, Rodriguez, Doyle, Matthews, Mautz, Molina, and the recent draftees. Anyone else should be available

He is starting to remind me of Justin Williams, the OFer we got in the TP trade. It seems, given the number of players w/ potential upside that we may need to protect, that CD may be on the outside looking in.

Let me clarify that I personally don’t really care if he stays or goes. I just feel there are others that need to go before we worry about him.moose-and-squirrel wrote: ↑27 Jul 2026 10:28 ampretty pitiful if it comes down deciding between these two.. neither are worth keepingokcardfan wrote: ↑27 Jul 2026 09:34 amAgree 100%, keep Davis over Scott. Davis is as fast, much better arm, can play all three OF positions, strikes out a lot, like Vic, but when he connects he has much more power than Vic.hornetfb52 wrote: ↑27 Jul 2026 09:14 am Personally, I’d protect Davis over keeping Scott. Davis plays pretty good defense and at least has a chance at the plate.
Plus, Davis is nearly a year younger than Scott and, since he hasn't been in the majors, will be cheaper than Vic.
