Everyone on here mocking those who wanted NV on the Opening Day roster cracks me up. You all are conveniently omitting the really good Spring Training this guy had. At the time there was a strong argument for him to make the club.
But now that he has struggled (like most of the lineup), you all come on here like some know-it-all blowhards.
No I said so at the time thats why I brought it up.
I said his role should be just what it is. RH bat off the bench and DH against lefties.
You had fanboys here believing he was suddenly going to be the answer after being dropped by several clubs.
Sorry if that makes too much sense for you.
Nobody thought he was the difference making answer. Some thought his ST earned him a shot. That's it. He showed power potential this team needed. It made more sense than taking the redundant duo of Fermin and Saggese. Sorry if that is too hard for you to understand.
That's not what I was talking about.
He had a role and I was fine with it. But not as an everyday option and thats what a lot of well wishers were advocating him for. Some actually thought he was a 30 HR possibility.
You obviously missed those posts or forgot them. I didn't.
He had 4 home runs in 74 plate appearances if he did that for 600 plate appearances he would have 30 home runs. He has 35 in 689 career plate appearances so yea if he played everyday he would have 30 home runs for a full season.
So at one point this season Walker woukd have been on pace for how many HRs?
60, 70 more if you use your formula?
It doesn't work that way over a full season whi h he has never played.

Interesting argument of yours to say he hasn’t hit 30 home runs in the big leagues before so that means he can’t hit 30 home runs in the big leagues

Shhh..Ozzie. Your facts are ruining the blowhard gloatfest. Do not take this shining moment from them!
One of my concerns with Oli’s management is the limited playing time for the bench and the continuous grind placed on the regulars. To address this, the front office could periodically use the 10-day IL for regulars dealing with legitimate minor injuries. That would give them time to recover while creating meaningful playing opportunities for bench players, a strategy the Dodgers have used effectively.
Saggese earlier, and now Velazquez, have suffered from inconsistent playing time and struggled to maintain their rhythm. If Velazquez is dealing with an injury, perhaps the Cardinals could place him on the 10-day IL and recall Saggese, allowing the two to rotate as circumstances warrant.

That is an interesting point. And you are correct in pointing out the Dodgers use (manipulation) of the IL. But the better solution is probably getting a manager who is smart enough to understand how to properly distribute days off. Marmol ridiculously gives days off early in the season instead of spacing them out sensibly.

Oh shut up you (bleep) blowhard. You have nothing better to do than try to rip on people for wanting to see a guy get a shot 4 months ago? You've probably been hoping NV struggled so you could get on here to claim 'I told you so!' You and the other condescending jackasses need to do your circle jerk in private.

Are you kidding? Do you read CT? This place goes bonzo every time a starter is given a day off.

Yes, Marmol takes some unfair criticism (I am guilty), for his lineups. But much criticism is warranted. His days off usually make little sense. Take Winn for instance. He typically gets multiple off days early in the season and then very, very few from June - September. Other guys get off days after good games. Oli's misguided logic is to let them bask in a positive. How about let them find a streak? That's my 2 cents.
