good points and I would add that many loyal fans have been around the last couple seasons while others have been begging for this tank - it is now on them to fill the seats while a lot of us will be taking the next couple seasons offPura Vida wrote: ↑10 Feb 2026 18:10 pmYour loyalty is duly noted however this so-called rebuild has been happening for two years. Nothing has been built, only dismantled. Trading all key players at the deadline for two years and now dumping at great cost every expensive long term contract. I have no loyalty to management. Please sell the Cards to those who want to win, to respect this great franchise. That is loyalty too!AZ_Cardsfan wrote: ↑10 Feb 2026 15:23 pm Not sure what to say. Yes - it is a rebuild. Yes this season W/L won't be pretty. Yes some players will get really long looks before deciding they are failures.
None of this is secret squirrel type news. They have announced multiple times what the plan is and it is they will suck in 2026. If you are truly a Cards fan you root to see the emergence of a few stars from the wreckage with potential to shake off the rebuild as soon as possible.
I'll renew my subscription to watch the games and probably watch about 140 games again.

Re: OMG Projected Opening Day Roster
This team as is will lose over 90 games. If any of the starting pitchers perform well, they will be traded at the deadline. Lil oli will fall well below. 500 as the Cardinals manager.
Thanks a lot, DeWitt and Johnny bow ties. Your ridiculousness has taken a annual playoff contender down to Pittsburgh Pirates level suckage.

Re: OMG Projected Opening Day Roster
Not saying he isn't a serviceable pitcher, just at this point he's not a top of the rotation pitcher. Maybe he develops, I don't know. He's not a 7 inning and turn it over to the pen pitcher. At least not yet.Strummer Jones wrote: ↑10 Feb 2026 12:25 pmMcGreevy averages closer to six than five. By my math, he averages about 5 2/3'rds innings per start. I'm including his first game with St. Louis last season as a start, since he came in in relief and pitched 5 2/3rds of an inning. Yeah, it's a relief appearance, but those are basically starter innings. He pitched six innings in every August start.CCard wrote: ↑10 Feb 2026 11:35 amMan, that pitching looks pretty bad. I hope they play better. Pallante should not be in a rotation. May will probably be hurt by mid-season. McGreevy has been a 5 inning pitcher and that's bad because the bullpen looks even worse. That bullpen is going to give up a lot of runs, putting pressure on the Cards offense to score.Pura Vida wrote: ↑10 Feb 2026 10:31 am I really hope I'm wrong, but this team is scary bad. The outfield is beyond weak and I find it hard to watch Gorman at 3rd defensively knowing he is there for his bat, that doesn't exist! And all I see and read is crazy pressure being put on JJ. Here kid, take Donovan's place!

And again, if you lop in that first "bullpen" game of his and count it as a start, the minority of his games started went five innings or less. That ain't bad for a guy who's a mid-back rotation starter.

Re: OMG Projected Opening Day Roster
If he is or if he isn't won't make much difference.

Approx 20 to 25 percent of the US population suffers from mental illness. Approx 15 percent suffers from addiction/abuse/misuse of Benzos and Opiates. That last number is overly conservative, likely closer to double that.
Nuff Said!!!
Re: OMG Projected Opening Day Roster
Contrary view:
1) Starting pitching: as a staff, they could very well be better than last year.
2) Offense: no WC hurts, but no NA helps. Herrera and Winn are a year older. Offense could be the same (or a tick better.
3. Defense: TBD
4. Bullpen:might be a tick worse.
I’m seeing a floor a little worse than 2025, but not a total [shirt] show like some of you think. Most of you.
