I don't know why the Pirates even bother. Maybe to flip him at the deadline?
What does this mean? They have the best pitcher in baseball, a stacked rotation behind him, and the best prospect in baseball knocking on the door.
They've been trying like crazy to add offense to make this a competitive roster. They made offers to Josh Naylor, Kyle Schwarber, and Geno Suarez. Suarez took a lesser offer from the Reds.
They've traded for Brandon Lowe and Garcia and now signed Ryan O'Hearn and Ozuna. Still have Oneil Cruz and Bryan Reynolds.
It's not crazy at all to think they could contend for a WC spot with that rotation plus these additions. I think they've done a commendable job this off-season improving their team.
agree with ya WS

That is probably the most cringe outfield play I've ever seen. I laugh every time I see it.
I agree. Jose Canseco’s header deserves Dishonorable Mention.

Yes the header would have made any soccer mom gush.

Pirates have quietly reinforced their lineup with cheap power. They already have the best pitcher in baseball and more on the way. Playing in a weak division they could make a playoff push. Mos strategy was to eke into a wildcard spot and hope they get hot. The pirates actually have the arms to do some damage if they pulled that off.

I agree. They not only could get hot anytime, but their starting staff could dominate series. They have big power in a short series, and a good four starters for the longer series.
