Thanks for the heads up. His transparency and straightforwardness are a breath of fresh air.
Dumb question by Goold with his statement that we've traded "four All-Stars." No mention that three weren't All-Stars since 2023 (NA and Sonny) and 2022 (WC).
He had a great answer for Jurrangelo Cijntje, concentrating mostly on RHP moving forward, but still keeping him throwing BPs. etc. until they evaluated him more.
He emphasized concentrating on huge upside. A higher risk for a higher ceiling is a good strategy.
Yes but our fan base also has a lot of fans that go to games for the name on the Jersey so I can see some relevance.
no worries ... I'm sure all those that wanted this tank job will be filling the seats!
They weren't going to fill the seats for the mediocre product we had either so what's the point. Anyways to each their own. You don't have to go to games or even follow them if you don't want to.
that's the plan
and yet here you are….

Chaim was a class act with his praise of Donny to lead off the Presser.
I like listening to him speak, too.
I don't give a ZZZZ what he says. I care about him putting a good team on the field. Failed at that.
you don't say?....I had you on the fence this entire time. I'm really glad you cleared that up for me
if you don't care what he says, then why are you responding in a thread about what he just said earlier this morning? I think someone is Fibbing.
You care...it's okay, you can say it

That was a bad question from Goold. Bloom diplomatically but firmly answered it.
Exactly. It implied that you were trading 4 all-star level players.
His answer was respectful of everyone's accomplishments in their profile, yet politely moved it towards what most benefits them going forward. In other words, we arent going to keep them on our team because of their legacy if the long term future and promise is better with what they are getting back.

Thanks. Will Leitch is probably the best writer on the Cards that there is, and this is an absolute gem. He lays out a lot of great info about the Cards' future in fewer words than anyone.

Agreed on both scores.
The guy does not have worms in his head as did his predecessor.

Liked his take on giving Nathan Church opportunity. Kid has hit at every MILB level. Let’s see what he can do.
See him as a platoon type .. playing once a week would be about right ... Church on Sunday !
Once a week???

it's going to take awhile getting over my favorite team getting torn to shreds - should I mail you a letter when I come up with some deadlines?

"Hard decision trading Donovan but aligned w/what he's trying to achieve"
"OF is an area still could stand to add externally through FA and/or the trade market"
"Fermin and Saggese might see OF time"
"We've added significant talent upside to our minor league system but there are no guarantees of success"
"Not shutting his phone off when it comes to trades but nothing up his sleeves at this time"
He's told us exactly what he's going to do. And when he does it, the usual posters will be on here complaining that he didn't do something else.

No need for that. At least your favorite team, that was being bled to death under Mozeliak, has a chance to die and be reborn under Bloom.
Will he be successful? Who knows. If this is your favorite team, you’d give him a chance.
In the meantime, keep threatening to leave and then finding a reason not to.

My favorite part was when asked about trading four all stars was when he replied we don’t want to get caught up in past glories and just because they were all stars and have someone just because they have been all stars. Loved that statement. Contreras and gray were never all stars with the cardinals and aren’t going to be all stars again arenado is a shell of his former self and isn’t ever going to be an all star again and Donovan is going to a team that has actual stars so he won’t be gifted an all star again.

Agreed.
He understands, as I was first and alone to understand and explain at the time, the utter TOXICITY of the Pujols/Molina/Wainwright goodwill legacy reunion tour which led the team directly to its current circumstance - precisely as I predicted.

Disagree on pujols and Molina that was the last time the cardinals had a winning culture according to . The only problem with Molina was oli man enough to reduce his playing time even when he could have been more productive with reduced playing time. Waino and carpenter 100% agree with you on that. The problem wasn’t any toxicity on the part of pujols and Molina they established the winning culture and were leaders when they left oli has been unable to establish a winning culture like Larussa could
