Better not be Bloom's RH hitting outfield bat which he recently referenced as wanting to add.
I think that’s exactly what he serves.

I have to admit that I am a bit intrigued by Velazquez.

Hits like Gorman, but runs faster and seems like he could play a decent LF.

He was awful in April 2025 but was impressive in May-Sep in AAA and the Mexican league.

He needs to come to ST in the best shape of his life.

The Cardinals OF might be one of the easiest to crack.

You could be on to something Mel. As I said, I don’t know anything about him, but if he’s cheap he's an option.
Why must an option be cheap? Geez...are you guys out gathering nickels and dimes for daddy DeWitt? What a bunch of rubes.

Why not cheap? We have zero chance of winning, right? Why spend money on a losing proposition?

And there's the rub as they say. They would have a chance of winning if they'd get some talent. But they're content to cry poor and you rubes lap it up. LOL

When and what will get them to spend, in order to win? Define it, and what you consider winning.

Winning. Three stair step objectives. Make post season. Set pitching. Play small ball/any ball to win. NLCS. Play for the pennant. You do that you have a chance. World Series. Always a goal for a contender.

When. After the roster cleansing. Will stock up with atheletic types. Build a team of athletes. Gives a guaranteed return in all facets but hitting.

Stephan Stills calls it - changing partners.

Nothing can guarantee a championship, even the Dodgers had to play for it. But getting into the playoffs is the goal. Until you get into the playoffs you're just whistlin dixie. You add talent up to at least the threshold that is appropriate for your income and then you coach as best you can and make an environment that the players can grow in. That's how to do it. All this cutting talent and not replacing it is a slap in the face to the fans (except the rubes who think it'll get them a cookie or something). I would say signing a couple of top tier pitchers would be a decent start and lord knows they can afford it.

I think once they see how the players play in a full season, such as Walker, VS2, Gorman, Nootbar, pitching staff, basically the entire team, they will then be able to decide if they are part of the future or not. And then you could replace them through a trade or free agency. Try to narrow it down to two or three positions. It’s not gonna be easy. It’s definitely not going to be immediate. I can accept losing as long as they are trying. When is the last time we won? I think we’ve been losing for quite some time.
