They can either get pieces to better the team and go for it, or tear it apart.
First this team can be good, and make the playoffs, under the right system. But they are not cup contenders.
More so, This team goes no where under the current Monty version of Hitch hockey. Or any version, but this one is really bad.
We need the offense to take the puck, to the net, for a shot, in the shooting zone. Not down the half boards, for a decision whether to dump it deep, or back to the point.
This team looks like it has no direction, tied in to a bad plan. With no one having knowledge on how to execute the plan.
Worse yet is that they only hear about the plan. When they are getting yelled at, for not buying into the plan. And Everyone is on the same plan.
This is why Steady lines are not needed. Because, the plan has no plays, no area's where a shooter would lurk, no preplan cuts, dips, or board bounces up the ice, no one player has any ideal what the next player might be doing with or without the puck. No one has a direction. No one knows the plan.
This is why we Fold.
And go for the highest pick we can get. Trading Schenn, and Binny would be first priority. Kyrou only for a younger top line prospect coming back. Any of the third or fourth liners
Buch if someone asked. Parayko if I couldn't refuse the offer and open to trade anyone playing, in the right package. I wouldn't make any trade for a prospect that didn't project top 6/4. I rather a third rd. pick then a player like Toro or Kessel.
Id look to the rest of the season as practice, and use the time to revamp the plan. I'd bring up every defender I could for quality time and a quality check. I wouldn't allow coach to pressure, throw under the bus, or demand from the youth, just coaching
In the summer. I would fire everyone/most Army hired who doesn't have that coaches contract.
Depending on draft and who got traded. I'd look for a 1c and the next great defender. Again anyone not names Thomas, Hofer, or Bro. Would be available in the right package.
I'd possible look for a last minute free agent vet defender(a suter type) possible a third/fourth liner depending on who left/whose left/what's missing.
Next year. I would again be looking to make the playoffs. I'd still be looking to upgrade and Would not worry about next years pick. Not looking for deadline trades
Year three would be decision time. If things were bad by deadline. Fire coach, move vets, repeat top pick.
What I would do with this team
