Maybe, maybe not. I don't know, but you have three guys for two positions, so I'm guessing that the team would like to have them starting as many games as possible to see what the future holds. Arenado isn't in our future, so he's the odd man out. He put up an 87 OPS+ last year. Gorman had an 88 OPS+ and Saggese had an 82 OPS+, so they might not be great, but they're not far from Arenado offensively. It's a low bar, but I want to see if they can clear it.
No one denies Nados offensive downfall, but still very good defense. That matters.

Personally I’ve totally given up on Gorman
This. Gorman won’t even hit as well as Arenado this year.

And Gorman’s “defense” is laughable.

But let’s pay $20 million or more so that Arenado can go play for another team, while they give the job to Gorman.
I agree but I also get why they are trying to dump arenado the more money he is able to shed the more money he has to spend this off season because the payroll is said to be going to be about as much as last season.

Why not keep arenado. Saggese ain’t the answer in 2-3 years. We need a real third baseman with thump. Neither provide that. So in the rebuild we go with the better defense, as our pitching needs it to also further develop in a down year.

Remember when Mozeliak flew out to Arenado's home in the offseason to persuade him not to opt out? How times have changed.

Saggese was acquired as part of the sell off for Montgomery. If it's a rebuild then he needs the playing time and plate appearances. Can either he or Wetherholt play 3B?

You are right. Everyone has JJ at second. I thought is projected bat was too much for that position with third left as a huge power outage position. Move JJ to third. George Bell. Then a Saggese can man second.

Just an idea.

Unless there is an emergence from any prospect, it’s probably a good bet the 26 man spot comes from one of these three. It may come down to who simply has the better speed.

Nothing wrong with an open competition deciding who starts and who backs up. Gorman too
but now he needs to win a spot IMO and a natural RH/LH platoon.

3B is a longer-term issue, It is part of my reason for want JJ at 3B.
He will get what I guess is called a "long runway" now

JJ while having an average SS arm per scouting reports, will
still have the better arm of the group if the reports are true. Lastly adequate to good at 3B
tends to cost more than the same at 2B.

Being open to others doesn't mean he jumps at the first offer.
He will still want his preferred teams until he is certain that it isn't a possibility.
Don't we all do that especially when he can't just quit the job it the other opens up?

The lesser a team that he goes to the longer it will take to be decided imo.

Wetherholt makes sense at 3B but why did they leave him at SS and only 12 games at 3B in 2025? The way this team runs their minor leagues is baffling sometimes. The one position he is guaranteed not to play in St Louis is SS.

J.J.W. is going to be the starting 2nd baseman, he's not playing 3rd base where N. Gorman (unless he's traded too) is ticketed once NADO is traded.

We have differed on this question in the past.
You continue to stay with this position. I suggest that SS is the
most difficult, challenging him there is fine IMO
the transfer to either 2B/3B is easy.
