I have no idea. You can trade anyone….the return is the issue. Trades have occurred and FA have been signed in MLB. The much ballyhooed stable of Cards Bloom was dangling have yet to product a return outside of Gray. MLB network, Woo, Gould, ESPN all were hyping action from Bloom around the Winter Meeting. I don’t think pointing that out against the reality of NO ACTION is a “whining and crying” event. It’s reality. Again players have changed teams…….the Cards were supposed to have some of the most sought after players…..with Bloom in a trading mode. Each day that another players moves or signs is another option lost…..this isn’t a complicated process

The Cardinals are in press-your-luck mode in waiting for an offer they like. They don't actually *have* to trade anybody. But a lot of smoke to wind up doing nothing. I'll wait til mid January to really wonder what happened.

In the mean time other teams are finding other solutions. Find your trade partner with a need,...

- Mets signed Polanco to play 1B. They also traded for Semien to play MI. They are likely out on Contreras and Donovan.
- Braves signed Kim. Likely not a suiter for Donovan.

Competing options for Donovan(LH) and Contreras (RH) bats
- The DBacks signed Merrill Kelley as SP. Would they really trade Marte right now?
- Tucker is still LH FA option for high budget teams
- Bregman is still RH 3B optio with good bat for the same teams.

Noot coming off surgery and under .700 OPS might have
as much value as a #5 OFer with St. Louis as a trade. Kwan hasn't moved either.
Jo Jo, RPs are coming off the board. He has been an excellent LH RP for 3 seasons.
That is a product that even I could trade. Bloom can do that in his sleep anytime
he wants. He maximizing on this one, he can do it in ST if he wants.

Under Mo, the Cardinals went out and did what little business they wanted to do, then took the rest of the year off.
At least Bloom isn’t rushing into anything. Hopefully we aren’t disappointed in the returns of any deals he ends up making.
Both of the Japanese players need their market resolved soon, or they’d just head back to Japan.
Bregman and his stupid agent are holding things up again also, along with the Diamondbacks throwing Marte into the mix. Which I can’t decide if they really want to trade him or not.
I still think Donovan and Contreras will be traded, and probably Arenado too, but some other players need to fall first.
