I’d love to get Wacha, but not for Donovan.
I love Noah Cameron and Kris Bubic. 2 really really solid lefties.

They also picked up 2 pitchers from San Diego at the Deadline last who I love as well: Ryan Bergert and Stephen Kolek.
In 2025:

Cameron - 7.42 K/9, 2.80 BB/9, 1.17 HR/9, 4.18 FIP
Liberatore - 7.24 K/9, 2.37 BB/9, 1.13 HR/9, 4.03 FIP

And Cameron is actually 3 months older than Liberatore.

Are you trading Donovan for Matt Liberatore?

Bubic only has one year of team control left.
For fun. What would Donovan and Walker fetch. Anything?
It depends in part on whether the other team really wants Donovan and Walker, but from a neutral, objective starting point BTV suggests:

Mets

Nolan McLean = +40.9

Cardinals

Donovan = +32.1
Walker = +5.4

MLB.com has McLean at #11 overall with a FV 60 grade. FG has McLean at #12 overall with a FV 55 grade.

Maybe the Cardinals even have to "overpay" a bit by adding Pages (+11.9) or Crooks (+11). Or maybe they get another throw in from the Mets in return Ryan Clifford, AAA OF prospect, +8.3), or Eli Serrano, an OF prospect further away.

McLean would be very much another "Liam Doyle-level" prospect that I'd be trying to get if I were the Cardinals - quality over quantity here.
Thanx. Would a deal like this interest you.

I would personally drive Donovan, Walker, and whoever to NY for Nolan McLean. :D

Ok. Thanx. So the amount of upgrade by adding Walker is enough to return a stud. Interesting.

This has turned out to be a very interesting hot stove thread. A nice primer for the Winter Meetings. If Walker is requested in any trade involving a possible top of the rotation starting pitcher. Bloom has to comply.

Would it make any sense for the Cardinals to trade Walker, at this time, in their rebuild? Maybe for another fairly young player/players with some team control for a while.

So who are the two pitchers you “saw” in return for Walker?

I believe this idea originated in a Jim Bowden piece in the Athletic, a “winter meeting wishlist” which included some trades Bowden would like to see happen. Here’s the original comment:

“ The Cardinals trade second baseman Brendan Donovan and outfielder Jordan Walker to the Royals for left-handed pitcher Kris Bubic and right-hander Ben Kudrna

A cross-Missouri trade gives Donovan and Walker a chance to compete for an AL Central title, while the rebuilding Cardinals add two pitchers with team control remaining. Donovan will pair with Bobby Witt Jr. to give the Royals an elite middle infield and Kansas City will get a shot at unlocking Walker’s immense potential.”

It's an entirely hypothetical trade proposed by Jim Bowden that means absolutely nothing. No Walker trade rumor here.

Your entire thread is predicated on and ostensibly about what you claim you “just saw”—referring to the article in question. So whether you did or didn’t post a link to that article is irrelevant to the observation that it’s just your usual pretextual clickbait cr@p.
