He walked 48 times to 59 K’s in 246 at bats. Both reasonable for his first year in professional baseball. He would seem to be better than any of the Seattle trio. So the Mariners deal, or the Dodgers? I say Seattle, just because of Sloan. 19 yrs old with a 6’5” frame, speaks future #1 starter.
I agree, give me the Seattle deal, how's their OF look? Maybe throw in Noot to sweeten the haul

It isn't clear where Arroyo's future defensive home is, but the bat is going to play no matter where he ends up. He has a .408 OBP for his career in the minors, and has launched 40 homers across the last two seasons. He could be a Howie Kendrick with more pop.
Though Sloan isn't Seattle's best pitching prospect, he's arguably the most exciting. He was only 19 years old this season, yet he showed off excellent stuff and excellent command in striking out 90 batters against 15 walks in 82.0 innings at Single-A and High-A.

Terrible trade and would represent a waste of great talent from the Cardinal side for two guys we MAY see in the next 3 years.

If this deal would materialize it is good as is.
Sloan was reach when originally looking at their prospect
possibilities and thought that maybe they would need to add to
get him. Arroyo should be AAA at least this season. Hits with a simplified
approach and is athletic.
I'm not sure adding would increase the quality. Jo Jo is listed as a
target of Seattle IF it does.

After watching some video of Arroyo I like what I see. He has a very smooth swing. I see a bit of Aledmys Diaz type of flair to his approach.

Preferably with a few years of team control. On the topic of Liberatore I suspect he will improve in 2026. He was completely mishandled by the Cardinals and should be coming into his prime at the age of 26.

Seattle is looking at Arroyo to replace Arozareno in 2027 as they see a very similar player. Good plate discipline, some power and speed but poor defender. Sloan they see as a TOR future starter to go along with Anderson and Woo.
Ford is the top prospect they would like to move but he is a poor fit for Cards. If they move Sloan it would be in a deal for Marte most likely.
Likely for Donovan and Romero they would offer one of young mlb starters Evan’s or Hancock, Cijntje and a couple of young high upside prospects like Celesten and Bautista. That would be a young mlb starter, two 55 grade prospects and a just turned 18 year old they gave over two million to this January who has potential for plus , plus power and with speed and plus arm with superstar potential.
One interesting move would be to add Mathews to the deal. Seattle would be interested in that Matthew’s is left handed and most likely ready in later 2026 or 2027. Anderson and Mathews would give them two left handers to go with their right handers. In that case you could see them adding Sloan to the deal who has higher potential but is further off. In that situation Cards could also ask for Teddy McGraw, who’s been injury prone but the stuff is there if healthy.
This deal would add 3 55 grade prospects to the system giving the Cardinals 7 players with 55 grade or above. Yes not all will reach their upside but the more you have the likelihood that one or two can make it to all star or possibly superstar level. Having better minor league coaching and training would also allow players to better reach their upside.

You may well be correct, it definitely fits their past.
Sloan won't get Marte he's too far away. We will see
As I mentioned prior, I think if Seattle sticks to their traditional ways they will be forced to go into the FA
Market. McGraw is not much, and the Cards can get a good return without adding Mathews.

Donovan has 2 years left til he can leave in free agency (maybe get a draft pick thru QO offer). Each pitcher has 6 years control for the Cardinals.
So part of the equation is Bloom is giving up 2 years of Fonivan for 12 years of those two players.
OR another way to view it, when Donovan departs you have 10 years remaining as Donnie is long gone.

You are correct to say MAY .. no guarantee but Bloom doesn’t appear that Cardinals will extend Donovan for big bucks so he is worth a lot now and very little two years from now. Sounds like Bloom wants to cash in on his present max value.

Who cares? This is a bottom of the pack team for 2 or 3 more years.
Donovan is your best trade asset. You want to get MLB ready pitching for Donovan because you're worried about who will pitch in 2026? Sign a couple scrubs to go along with the team full of mostly scrubs.

PS. If both players ready to come up two years from now their ‘clocks’ start then so 6 years for each at that time not the 10 I first mentioned
