IMO, Goldy needed the 400 HR's to be a lock, while Freddie did not.
Voters cannot unsee what Freddie does when the lights are brightest, he's in.

IMO, Goldy needed the 400 HR's to be a lock, while Freddie did not.

But Freeman is ALSO going to get to 400 HR. He’ll have the longevity and counting numbers that Goldschmidt will not.

Just thinking Goldy needed that marker number more than Freeman does to be an automatic into the HOF.
Covid season hurt his HR number.

LOL I was thinking how does Freeman compare to Eddie Gaedel, shortest player in MLB history at 3 ft. 7 in. Sure Old red knows him .
Gaedel got on base every at bat in his career . (walked on 4 pitches and replaced for pinch runner ) Only plate appearance but 100% successful reaching base. Freeman can't match that
PS I was 3 years old when Gaedel played. Remember in Kindergarten (age 5) my father talking about Eddie's debut. Gave hope to all of us little kids of playing in the majors too someday
I was minus 3 when Eddie Gaedel made that appearance. The Brownies moved to Baltimore when I was minus 1 so I never saw them.
And hey, Dan, and everyone else:
When Eddie Gaedel made that appearance, whose uniform did he borrow???
Eddie borrowed the uniform of the bat boy .. 9 year old Bill DeWitt Jr.

Freeman for sure. That’s easy.
Goldy? Definitely maybe.
While he was more dominant during his peak he trails in overall numbers bc he got off to a later start to his career (age 23) compared to a lot of the greats, including Freeman (age 20). Unfortunately Goldy probably won’t make up for it on the other end.
And for bonus points Freeman is a postseason star and WS champ for an all time great franchise. Goldy?

Actually, I’m partial to Norm Larker, who lost his position to that dillweed Ron Fairly. My Norm Larker model first baseman’s mitt was gold for me.
Fairly was Gibson's biggest nemisis..hit .302 against Gibson in his career.

MLB has a very high standard, we just might night always agree on a few that are in.
When we do that we should think of who is not in.
That should be okay, like having different opinions on a chat forum, we should, in this boy's
opinion, come here more for that than for like opinions. It if nothing else can
improve your position.
Only about 1.5% of players make it. Only about 1.1% of pitchers make it.
Debate is more on the individual players, goals met actually, baseball is in the conversation.
