Re: All-Time Hot Dog Team
you cant have any hot dog team, w/o jim edmonds being on it. he's the worst hot dog ever.
he would make easy catches, turn into run into wall, fall, get up, act like you caught it at wall, when you were at a light jog, caught it 10 feet from wall, and then went into dramatics.

Yogi was no hot dog player. He was all serious while playing. The media just loved himpassthebuck wrote: ↑10 Oct 2025 16:36 pm Yogi Berra, Bob Uker, John Rocker, John Kruk, and Billy Martin could be the manager.
But how about Satchel Paige?

In my generation I'd say Jose Lima would be the top of my list.

Seems like we’re bulking “loose cannons” together with hot dogs… in that case, I’m not sure anyone could compare to Rube Waddell.Rojo Johnson wrote: ↑10 Oct 2025 19:40 pm Jimmy Piersall was my choice, too. Although I’m not sure he was a hot dog. Many said he was simply mentally ill. When he hit his 100th career HR he ran the bases backwards, facing backwards. You’ve probably never seen that before. He was quite the head case.

Darryl Strawberry for sure. He literally had to duct tape it to his leg

I didn't know much about Piersall until 1958. He was playing at Comiskey Park against the White Sox and started to "do the twist" during the game.Rojo Johnson wrote: ↑10 Oct 2025 19:40 pm Jimmy Piersall was my choice, too. The guy was a nut case but he was entertaining. People in Chicago loved it.
Piersall was a riot when he teamed with Harry Caray in the booth in the 1970's.

How could we leave off Yasiel Puig?
Re: All-Time Hot Dog Team
Babe Ruth had quite a history with hotdogs, beer and women.
Whether or not he called his shot in the 1932 Series he sure gave the Cubs bench a bunch of (bleep).

Ryne Duren, Yankee reliever, who could really throw hard, wore thick glasses and made a practice of throwing his first warmup pitch to the screen.
Vic Power, first baseman, Indians, who was the fanciest fielder at that position of his day.
Willie "Say Hey Kid" Mays, with the basket catch, amazing baserunning and awesome extra-base hitting.
No-Hit Bo Belinsky and Mamie Van Doren, 'nuff said.
