Melville, what would you recommend Bloom do with the current catcher depth? I believe you don't want Herrera catching. Is that correct? He'll need to probably DH then with Burleson as a regular corner outfielder.Melville wrote: ↑09 Oct 2025 09:24 amToo soon.
Last year, STL traded N/A within the precise 4-day window I predicted weeks in advance.
And the team will unquestionably maintain my accuracy rate which has exceeded 90% over the past decade.
But, we must first pass the QA and non-tender deadlines before we can analyze how the post-season will develop from there.
Patience.

Yeah. They aren't going to sign a significant FA. Manea would be another body if healthy. Which is not saying much.Midrange Jay wrote: ↑08 Oct 2025 14:26 pmIt’s a relatively even trade. I could see the Cardinals using Manea’s salary as an excuse not to sign an SP.RunSup wrote: ↑08 Oct 2025 12:16 pm Arenado contract: https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/player/_/id ... an-arenado
Manea Contract: https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/player/_/id ... ean-manaea
Manea 2025 injuries: https://sports.yahoo.com/article/mets-s ... 57464.html
Manea started the season on the IL with an oblique strain that kept him out til mid season. Then "loose bodies" diagnosed in his arm
They claim now he doesn't need off-season surgery. But yeah right. He'll need surgery.
According to Sportrac, Manea is owed ~$39M through 2027. With additional $23.25M deferred over 10 years beginning in 2035.
Arenado is owed $31M through 2027. With additional -$42M of deferrals continuing from 2026 thru 2041
Both teams would be just dumping contracts. Questionable whether Manea pitches effectively again. Arenado at least can play the field. Optimistically, he recovers doubles power and a .750 OPS. But that's looking through rose colored glasses.. Both probably need off-season arm surgery.
The additional prospect returned is middling. But Nado was never going to return a top prospect.

Hahahaha, you still pushing that bull[shirt] that he was traded? I get it, you’re just a parody account. No way anyone serious would continue to act like what didn’t happen actually happened. It’s really quite disturbing that your mental health is such that you believe your own fairy tales.Melville wrote: ↑09 Oct 2025 09:24 amToo soon.

They should hold onto NA unless they get a favorable return (unlikely).

That trade will have no impact on future discussions. NYM knew who Helsley was and what form he was in and the risks. They dealt knowing everything STL knew. They are big boys and gambled.

We were both laughing about it. We realize it won’t stop the two teams from dealing if they see a fit that improves their businesses….but the harmless and passing thought would have to cross their (and the fans) minds because that trade was a disaster.AZ_Cardsfan wrote: ↑11 Oct 2025 07:43 amThat trade will have no impact on future discussions. That said, do you really think the Mets thought they were getting anything close to the version of RH they got?

I suspect they were hoping for something more in line with his 2024 performance in the second half. That going to a contender and used as a closer type would re-energize him. But I'm also certain their scouts warned management he wasn't throwing with as much control and stuff and wasn't that guy. Sure, they were disappointed. It happens.CorneliusWolfe wrote: ↑11 Oct 2025 08:38 amWe were both laughing about it. Not that I feel sorry for the Mets, but I do like Helsley. Thought he was about the best homegrown we’ve produced in a decade. Maybe he hurt his value and will come back home on the cheap!AZ_Cardsfan wrote: ↑11 Oct 2025 12:13 pmI suspect they were hoping for something more in line with his 2024 performance in the second half. ok, the party animals that just won the banana ball championship, unless this is a replay on now, have a 3b who just made the smoothest super short hop grab and throw in the last inning of the championship against the firefighters. Maybe he can coach up Gorman.

Not only that, a couple pitchers were good and the hitters took real cuts.Clubmaker2 wrote: ↑12 Oct 2025 00:41 am ok, the party animals that just won the banana ball championship, unless this is a replay on now, have a 3b who just made the smoothest super short hop grab and throw in the last inning of the championship against the firefighters.
