He has masterfully shortened what can be a much longer process of getting back to being what should be a regular playoff team. If we have some prospects meet or exceed their perceived ceilings, this team could be back to Cup contender pretty quickly.

nothing short of incredible?

Broberg was not "exceptional" last season by any means. He was strong to start and he faded. Now, is that a major long term problem, no. Given his age and skillset he should be making leaps in his game now, but it still has to unfold. Two quick goals in a preseason game are not definitive.

Mailloux, I get why some are optimistic. It has to even begin to unfold at the NHL level and he has to show he's not an outright defensive liability.

Parayko peaking into an offensive prime is very helpful

I like numerous defensive prospects but there are more stellar players emerging into the league elsewhere as well.

If certain players beat timelines and lock down spots, thinking of Dvorsky and Stenberg here, and them doing it by Christmas, suddenly the Blues are going to feel like they have a luxury of prospects to package at the deadline to get a real horse on D. I am not sure how I feel about that but that's because the attachment to whomever might be getting packaged not the overall strategy which is sound.
68 GP 8gs 21 assists 29 pts +21 20:30 that is exceptional, yep he got hurt unfortunately or he would have been pushing 40+ pts in his full NHL season. Without looking he had 11pts in his first 13 GP or something close. Bottom line is goals scored against the Blues while Broberg is on the ice is very very rare and this is with paired with Faulk mostly.

2pts +9 in the Jets series he was outstanding, expect more of the same this year
He had a very strong start and was not as strong in the second half. I think this is merely semantic about standards for the E word (exceptional), not a big deal
I think whether Broberg was “exceptional” really depends on what you’re comparing him to. Relative to expectations, I’d agree he was exceptional, he performed well above what I expected from him in his first full season, and probably above what most of us realistically thought we’d see. But relative to the NHL as a whole, I wouldn’t quite put him in that category yet. “Exceptional” at the league level is reserved for the very top defensemen, and while Broberg was very good, he’s still a step below that tier.

Finally, I think the Blues will pay for both Broberg and Holloway. Even if it goes higher than Thomas/Kyrou contracts, that's the new reality of NHL salaries and teams will have to accept it to remain competitive.
I agree, exceptional for a rookie is different than exceptional for the NHL overall. I think it's fair to say he was one but not the other.

Same as Bolduc btw, Bolduc is being fawned over for not a lot yet. He had some brutally selfish playoff penalties too. Will he learn? Probably, but he learned on the Blues dime last playoffs.

What an outstanding and off topic post.
Yea don't rejoice, no one is asking anyone anything nor am I asking anyone to participate in the thread pure choice.

I feel like Bolduc has more risk vs Broberg. We saw Broberg perform at a high level in a Cup series Broberg was well known during the draft process. Bolducs success so for has been in a narrow window at ANY pro level. Landing Mailloux and only giving up Bolduc will be looked at as another master class move by Army at some point soon. Even if LM is a 2nd pair RHD here for years I'd take that trade for a 25 goal ish LW every time

Funny how a win against a 3rd-string goalie in 1 preseason game, has informed the many that a Blues Dynasty has begun.

Where were these grand predictions before? :)
