I'm more curious as to what coaches are retained.
Just a gut feeling .. wouldn't surprise me to see new direction with pitching coach.. Oli seems to like Dusty but wonder about Dir. of Pitching Matt Pierpont ? Haven't heard a lot of kudos about Blake really grooming the young pitchers when they reach the big league club. Wonder if Dusty could be packing. DeScalso could get some interviews for a managerial spot. If he would leave wonder if Jon Jay could get bench coach gig.
Try this out for speculation...DeScalso leaves and Yadi takes over as bench coach.
After next year Oli get kicked upstairs and Yadi takes the team.

Not an attack dog, and not an Ollie fan, but let's be honest here. How could he, or any manager succeed when you're rolling out the pitching staff he was blessed with. Pallante, Mikolas, Fedde every 5 games? No manager could have won with those guys. Its absolutely amazing that they almost won as many games as they lost with that staff. Not to mention a handful of sub .220 hitters.
Nothing you posted excuses the stupid baserunning, outfielders throwing to the wrong base, complete lack of situational hitting awareness, or the generally terrible approach by Cardinal hitters.
All of these things need to be cleaned up and it appears Marmol isn’t the guy to do it.
Good points.
My opinion of Oli mostly revolves around his in-game decision making(pitching changes & other strategies).
In those area I consider him below average.
However.....I have the same concerns that you mentioned above with base running/plate discipline/situational hitting/etc.
But....without being there with the team I don’t know how much of those concerns fall with the Manager?
It falls on him because he is the field general.
He is ultimately responsible.
If his coaches aren’t doing their jobs they need to go.
If the players don’t get the message their playing time should be affected.

High Em is talking extension for Oli
That would be nice more poor fundamental baseball to watch under olis guidance
If they extend or keep Oli, I'm pretty sure it's a double down on the middle finger they shot fans by keeping Mo around 5 years too long. it will be telling and it will tell me whether any of this is a charade or something to seriously consider.

Enough of low-IQ baseball.
Agree
I have to believe we can do better than Oli.
I’d like to see Skip get a shot.
I thought he was solid with the Marlins.
And yes....the overall fundamentals need to improve.
As for the coaches?
How does Pop Warner still have a job??
He’s an imbecile!

This is right on. This team is young but seems to have a low IQ of the game. That falls on the instructional staff in the minor leagues. If guys are getting proper coaching and ignoring it, then it's the manager's job to get their attention. We keep hearing how much the players like oli. But also hear some players don't properly prepare themselves. Sounds too buddy-buddy and not enough discipline.

That works for me. I don't take kindly to those who call Pujols and Yadi "toxic". Hopefully, if this happens, Yadi would be managing by the All Star break.
