One good hitter and one good starter might have made a difference in the few games we are back in the wild card. I’ve always thought, before, that they would make moves to improve the team ,
I have no illusions this time that will do so. I fully expect them to get rid of players and add nothing in return that will improve the 2026 team.

Interesting. I expect this to be the most exciting offseason in years. Last offseason, MO made one move, signing Maton. This year, we have a new GM, we had a runway season where the team should have been able to make up their mind regarding the future with the team of 6-8 players. I expect them to trade 3-5 players off the ML roster and several minor league prospects to reshape the entire organization. I can't remember an offseason where they traded that many players off the ML roster since maybe Whitey Herzog in 1982.

If the major concern is they will do nothing to improve the 2026 team over the 2025 team. I think they will try. The way the season is playing out, they could have made the playoffs this year had they went out and added a SP this offseason. The way the bullpen has played out after the trade deadline, it has been mostly OK. So, add a SP or two via trade, add a couple bullpen pieces like Maton at a reasonable cost and add Wetherholdt to the team and the team should be better in 2026. If Baez mashes in Memphis and is ready by July, the team could be a whole lot better. I find that exciting.
