I'm thinking we will see Doyle at some point on the Cards 2026 roster. Most likely as a starter, bur who knows , he may come out of the pen.

Start him ! The Cardinals desperately need their highest choice in the rotation for the future.redbirdfan51 wrote: ↑09 Sep 2025 16:44 pm I'm thinking we will see Doyle at some point on the Cards 2026 roster. Most likely as a starter, bur who knows , he may come out of the pen.

I don't see where they've done anything wrong. Just don't see why it would be an issue his first start was at PB. I assume was in Florida at one of the camps. Hadn't started a competitive game for over 2 months as far as I know. Great he's now going to pitch a few innings in AA. Seems good news to me.

Re: Cards already moving Liam Doyle to AA Springfield
I don't buy that the SEC is even close to AA level. Maybe the best team is A+ and most are more like A level.
However, there are maybe up to a dozen players in the SEC who are AA level and Doyle did get to face off against them.
AA will be a step up for him but not a large step up. It seems appropriate to me. I love it that he will see some playoff action.
Also, I hate rushing hitters to MLB but I'm not as against rushing a pitcher if the pitchers has a few MLB quality pitches. If he needs to develop more pitches, then don't rush him.
I do agree that Doyle is one of those dozen AA level SEC players so he will be moving to a league that won't be as easy for him to dominate since his new opponents will be noticeably better than his SEC opponents were.

Not really Bully
Doyle was the #5 pick in the draft, led college ball in KO's and has four years of college ball experience that includes two years in the SEC (the best).
The college experience puts him well above Class A players, on par w/AA level where he belongs.
Hjerpe was drafted much later as the 22nd player drafted in his class and started at A+ and only had three seasons at Oregon.
Doyle had an extra season of college ball.
No offense to Hjerpe, but Doyle is a way higher level prospect.
Am I missing something? Doyle only had 3 years of college.
At three different schools no less.
Also Hjerpe was at Oregon State.
I just looked at his ages on BR and didn't pay attention, thx for the correction.

What does Walker have to do with this?Carp4Cy wrote: ↑09 Sep 2025 15:41 pmWalker was 20 during his AA season. Doyle is already 22.Bully4you wrote: ↑09 Sep 2025 10:53 am So, he pitches 1 2/3 innings in A ball and now he's moved to AA?
Must have been one hell of a 1 2/3 innings!!!
I guess they want him to get more work before year ends

Consider his last start at A just a rehab assignment to get warmed up. First competition since June.
