I don’t see the issue. We were told it was a rebuild. Whether they did it right or not isn’t the point. The results expected on such a year are. You get what you play for- REO.

It wasn’t surprising. I guessed 81-81.

And that's the culture they are teaching to the young players who are coming in. They must not realize that's a stink that is really, really hard to wash off.

If that culture has spread through the clubhouse, it is going to take a LONG time to get things back on track.
Its doesn't take that long to fire a manager. We just have to hire the right one next.

But it does matter how they did it. If there is next to no progress among the young players we are focused on, then its a completely lost year.

It was never characterized as a rebuild. Mozeliak hoped to have a competitive team this year without having done anything to make the team more competitive.

Apathy and status quo is not a rebuild.

I lived in Dayton OH for 7 years in the 1980’s, back when the Reds were in the Western Division and the Cards Eastern, so I could root for both. Listened to Marty Brennaman and Joe Nuxhall on WLW Reds Radio. I always felt the Reds broadcasters did a better job of “telling it like it is” than the Cards announcers. KMOX announcers and Post Dispatch media in general tended to sugarcoat everything. Brantley carries on the tradition of good, incisive baseball reporting.
