He will also make a trade from the organization's catching depth.
Carve it in stone.
It is more certain that your next heartbeat.
There are also a few minor league pieces I expect him to move on from.
Anyone expecting Bloom to wheel and deal this team into a playoff contender ala Whitey circa 1980, is going to be very disappointed. I do expect the roster to look very different next year. However, it’s going to be more of a rebalancing, with young talent being brought in rather than established stars. Anyone looking for a TOR pitcher, it’s not happening. Look for them to move on from some guys. They probably will move some players who might be helpful in 2026 to open up spots for 27/28. This rebuild/retool/reset isn’t going to happen over night. One last thing to point out: even if they can move on from Gray, Contreras and Arenado, it’s not going to bring much salary relief as any deal will require eating money. Will Bloom be able to convince that money is an investment in the rebuild/reset/retool?
I don't think they are all that concerned with moving Gray and Contreras this off-season.
They are the team leaders which will be needed with all the young guys next season - and they are the closest thing they have to players who can sell some tickets.
N/A is a dead Cardinal perching.
Bloom will take full aim at acquiring pitching.
Adding position players Baez and Jordan clearly signaled Chaim's intention to move position players exactly as I described above.
Very easy to see his thinking.

I think it is really hard to predict what Bloom is thinking, let alone what he might do. That will all depend on what the DeWitts allow, or dictate him to do. We will know fairly quickly what direction the team will take, and how much authority Bloom actually has!
I’m pretty pessimistic. I don’t see much change next year, at least for the better!

Bloom will trade all multi-year contracts getting ready for the work stoppage in '27 & salary cap coming.
Also, Cardinal Ownership will look to enhance profitability for their nearterm sale.
It is coming.

Overall I am optimistic. That will change if a reasonable attempt is not made to clear some of the logjams on the roster. I think another offseason of cutting payroll is a given.

Noot and Pozo for Kwan of Cleveland.

Yanks will be buying SP pitching this off season - may not be much left. Phillies need to find a pitcher to fill Wheelers spot so that will affect quality availability young and aged.

Take a shot at Alcantara or Pepiot.

Kwan is not an upgrade over Nootbar

He gets DeWitt to let him sign a FA pitcher... But it costs him his left nut.

"Kwan is not an upgrade over Nootbar" In your opinion maybe not.

Kwan: AB - 491 H - 134 48 SO Defensive Fielding Run Value - 7
Noot: AB - 397 H - 95 98 SO Defensive Fielding Run Value - 1

Will always take the player who will play and produce the majority of season. You get more offense and better defense from Kwan.

If Kwan is traded it will be to the Dodgers as they tried this trade deadline to acquire him. If they fail then look for Nootbaar or Donovan to go to Dodgers. They need a lh hitter for left field for the next two years till their prospects are ready.

Yankees have plenty of pitching and have Cole coming back plus Schmidt later next year. If they don’t do well in the playoffs then they may very well move on from Volpe and maybe Dominguez.
The pressure of playing for your hometown team and being compared as the next Jeter has got into Volpe’s head. He’s a good player but may need a fresh start elsewhere.
Would love to see him on Cards team. Good defender, 20 hr 20 sb player and hits right handed.

I dont expect much. Not because I doubt Bloom's abilities. But because I doubt how much authority to make moves. If this team was ran in a functional manner, Bloom would've been in charge before the deadline. Instead, we got total dysfunction with the bow tied jackass running things. And he continues to run things. Even though he was supposed to step aside on August 1st.

We need offense, Nootbar's OPS+ is slightly better this season and career wise over Kwan's. Kwan's defensive numbers are only slightly better, and Nootbar isn't exactly a liability on D. Still not an upgrade IMO.

The most talked about potential move this offseason will probably be Arenado.
Biggest need? Clearly a SP(maybe two?) although I think they sign a veteran also.
I expect a Catcher(or two?) to be dealt.
Also an OF.
I would deal Nootbaar before he sinks to zero trade value.
He is a tease. Can’t stay healthy and has mini hot streaks just often enough to keep you interested.
Like I said....a tease!

Lars the Human Sushi-baar.
Always leaves an empty feeling, always a desire for something with more substance.
I have understood his game with perfection for the past 4 seasons.
