What’s is wrong with baseballs contractors? We moved from Busch 2 to 3 without missing a single home game. But the As are playing in Sacramento because it takes 5 years to build a stadium in Vegas? And now this?
so, Busch3 wasn't being built ahead of time?
only half of it. And the whole thing certainly didn't take nearly as long. Stuff just takes way too long today - automation and technology isn't moving build times in the right direction.

Look at train tracks in the 1880s vs today. Gov Polis announced plans to connect Ft Collins to Pueblo with passenger rail 20 years in the future. For 150 miles. Then entire Western Pacific line was built in 6 years. By hand.
they broke ground in 2004, and opened in 2006

point is - never had a missed game. A's have been planning to move forever and didn't do it right and ended up without a home.

Basil Shabazz wrote: 24 Aug 2025 11:46 am Oli has a habit of sitting a young player the game after they seem to get something going.

He’s done it with Walker and Gorman a few times.

Now it’s Church’s turn.
Oli explained the reasoning for this in a recent interview, and this is paraphrasing, but it goes something like this, "If you're going to give a young guy the day off, it's best to do it after he's had a great game, so that as he's sitting there on the bench, he's feeling good about his game and what he's accomplished as he replays it in his head. Whereas if you sit a guy after he's had a bad game, negativity gets into his head and he starts beating himself up."

It's not the worst logic I've ever heard, but as we've seen in the last 3.5 years, this approach has horrendous (Ef'En) results with most young Cardinals. But that's Oli. He basically thinks he's a baseball genius. In a more recent interview, when asked about Pujols and Molina wanting to coach the Cards, paraphrasing again but his response went something like, "I'm not worried about it. I know what those guys can do and I know what I bring to the table."

Don't think I've ever despised a manager more than I do Oli. Mostly because he's never accomplished a single (Ef'En) thing in his MLB career, yet he clearly thinks he's God's gift to managing. And his one chance he had to accomplish something, he pulled an unhittable starting pitcher after 5.1 IP and tried to get 2 innings out of a closer who had just jammed a throwing finger 72 hours before.

Only thing Oli "brings to the table" is perhaps the most rapid decline in MLB history of a once successful franchise.
Add this to the huge number of reasons the moron has to be fired at seasons end.

Church gets two hits one a home run and then sits.
Buleson must play at all costs. There is no higher priority than giving Burleson more at bats. The only player we need to find out more about is Burleson.

In the off-season both Burleson and Oli should be gone. Not a single crocodile tear shed for either.

They are a package deal, they should be gone with Burly's buddy Shady in tow.

81 PA's
1 HR
.360 SLG%
.681 OPS

I'd deal him for sure.

Thanks Blackinkbiz for the quote. Could not remember when he said the above.

After 6 decades of MLB I cannot remember ANY manager saying such mental tripe. Safe to say that TLR, Lasorda, Sparky, Alston, Cox, Weaver, Martin, Durocher et al would throw you out of the clubhouse or dugout if such blasphemy was uttered.

OF course the Marmot is the same mental midget that said (paraphrasing) he was not worried about whether he would manage the Cardinals beyond the end of this season something or somehow things would work out. Must be listening to MO Ran and his gibberish how other MLB teams want his services.
