Re: This team looks different when Walker hits
It appearts that Rob Cerafolio has been able to fix that which Mo messed up.
Congrats to Rob and team.
If Mo had left Jordan alone, he would have already been the MOTO bat. Mo delayed Walkers progression by 2 years. That's on Mo, not on Walker.

Exactly. What it proves is that one’s stance is simply about comfort, balance, relaxation getting ready to hit a baseball.Cranny wrote: ↑09 Aug 2025 09:35 amLook at Herrera’s stance. Maybe it influenced Walker when they were on the same minor league team.ramfandan wrote: ↑09 Aug 2025 09:27 amIn his case, closing the stance put him in position to stride toward the ball better rather than spinning out.redbirdfan51 wrote: ↑09 Aug 2025 07:53 am Hopefully what we are seeing from JW now is what we see in the future. I have always been a fan of his. His development has been grossly mishandled . He was pushed through the system much too quickly then the Cards switched him from the IF to the OF at the major league level. He seems a lot more comfortable both defensively and offensively. I do not understand why that open stance of his was not changed earlier. The same goes for Gorman.
Havin an open stance for some does not necessarily mean you can’t be in position to hit a baseball. My example, Manny Machado ..look at his stance with left foot extremely back. Nobody had to square up his stance. The guy will be a Hall of Famer. Some coach probably tried to change his stance and it didn’t help only hurt him. If you didn’t know Machado watching him at plate would make you scream. OMG you can ‘t stand like that ! Not one stance fits all batters. It’s where your body ends up as ball is coming over the plate. Watch Padres Manny Machado at the plate. His extreme open stance works for him.
It has Nothing with your body position when the ball enters the hitting area. Your Herrera is also a great example.
I chuckle when I read comments from people who claim a players stance..too open , too closed, is detrimental to how they hit a baseball. It’s ridiculous.
PS I was avid amateur bowler and in my 30’s coached at a pro bowlers camp for top teen youth bowlers .
I remember the first time I saw 14 year old Pete Weber ,son of pro bowling great Dick Weber. Pete’s backswing would go far above his shoulders and head high in his arm swing. No bowling coach would ever teach that yet Pete Weber became arguably the top 3 bowlers of all-time. I learned watching him that you instruct to the individual not one way to all bowlers . Same with golf teachers.

Re: This team looks different when Walker hits
Yep. That's why you don't trade him. He could very well be a super star. You just can't teach size and bat speed. This team has had ups and downs but the pitching is what's most needed. Giving up 3, 4, or 5 runs early puts a lot of pressure on the hitters and they tend to fail more often than succeed.

Team looks different when Walker hits. Hopefully he is coming around to his potential.
Best you stay away from him. You lose your credibility when you tag team.

Re: This team looks different when Walker hits
The kid just needs to trust his ability and not overthink hitting. See ball. Hit ball. On that home run he hit last night, he didn’t even swing all that hard. He has sneaky power when he controls his swing and keeps his bat flat through the zone. Go Jordan!!!

Why don’t you stay out of their squabbles, Red?OldRed wrote: ↑09 Aug 2025 08:26 amYou have a huge ego. You just can't let it go. You are just as guilty with your responses.

Would love for JW to keep it up and get that OPS above .720 by end of year.
Baseball offseasons can be long and I’d like the kid to finish on a high note.

It's also my squabble. If you disagree with Cranny, he threatens you in his strange way. He has some real problems about communication and getting along with others. He has been that way for years.hugeCardfan wrote: ↑09 Aug 2025 10:37 amWhy don’t you stay out of their squabbles, Red?OldRed wrote: ↑09 Aug 2025 08:26 amYou have a huge ego. You just can't let it go. Actually yes you do stop whining but only to support your heroes in the FO.
Re: This team looks different when Walker hits
Seriously, Red. What does that have to do with baseball or the Cardinals? Do you need to personally attack another Cardinal fan just to satisfy some inner urge? “He has some real problems about communication and getting along with others”. What a nice thing to say. Very personal and attacking.OldRed wrote: ↑09 Aug 2025 11:53 amIt's also my squabble. If you disagree with Cranny, he threatens you in his strange way. Manny's starting spot is more open than it's ever been. He still gets to his point and sticks it
with great consistency, balance, and power. HOF worthy.
IMO, JW never did that. He often overstepped and reached especially low and
away. Easy for MLB pitchers who see such movement to bust him in and then get him to chase. The root cause
of a portion of all the GB, IMO.
Hopefully JW is on track. Still time to get a new challenge that can hurt his buy in and confidence.
It's been a journey for the young guy. Brant Brown and the current staff in MiLB will get a lot
of the credit. I'm of belief that it took the journey for the change. The first guy wasn't going
to get those current adjustments without time and the buy in that needs to continue or regression would happen.
I actually hope he hits 10 HR's or so by the end of the season to instill further confidence
in the approach.
