Fan Graphs give Cards 5% chance to make WC, Reds and Giants 10%
I don’t see an epic collapse from Mets or Padres this year, their pitching is too good and deep
We had a lesser chance of passing Atlanta back in 2011.

That team had won the regular season against top teams like the Phillies. This team has done that too, so I'm not saying it's 100% impossible. But that team also had Carp, Pujols, Holliday, Berkman in a big comeback year and TLR redefining bullpen usage toward a model still being used 14 years later.

It took an epic collapse from Braves to catch them
Fredi Gonzalez burnt his top 3 relievers out, and they faded in September, lost a ton of games late.
Cards should have given Fredi a WS share

And the Mets and Pads aren’t immune to choking. Sure it’s unlikely but it’s possible.

Only thing that I could see remotely boosting their chances would be if Mikolas gets removed from the rotation and Wetherholt gets called up around August 14/15th and he continues hitting. But I won’t get my hopes up about him hitting the world on fire when he gets called up.
If Roby hadn’t gotten hurt I believe he might have been brought up to fill Miles spot. Not sure Matthews is ready and there is not really anyone else. I guess they could stretch out Leahy and try him but they probably want to keep him in the pen after the trades they made.

Not one believer. Okay, I’ll be the first to believe.
We’ve got this.
Move Mikolas and Palante to the pen
Put Leahey and Matthew’s in the rotation
Pozo and Crooks
Get Gorman and Walker their at bats.
Don’t let Burleson hit against any lefties
We’ve had a very bad few weeks time to go on a run.

Jorge Alcala was the final piece. It’s all set. Just need to find a squirrel.
