Longer Term? Possibly, provided we internally develop a few Wainos and a Pujols or 2 or 3.

No chance at competing until the DeWitts are Gone!!!
Right. Then a new owner increases payroll to $200 million and there are only 10 teams or so spending more. The market is mid sized. Where do you think the metropolitan area ranks in the U.S.?
When the Cardinals had good teams, they drew fans from Cape, Mt. Vernon, Springfield, Ill, Paducah and other areas withing 150 miles regularly. Has very little to do with metropolitan area and you should know this.
Thank you for the lesson, Red. I had no idea they came from those places. My comment was actually more about the size of the cable area, where other teams in big markets have a huge advantage in revenue.

Just win, baby! Failing that,...

Play the right way.
Be competitive. Never give up in any game.
Show development progress.
Be fundamentally sound.
Sheesh, at least show up!
If any player dogs it now, they gotta go.

Wow, Cranny. Anyone who knows just a little bit about this franchise should know they draw fans from a large region.

And, if negotiated correctly, this same large region of devoted fans should translate into profitable cable and other media forms of distribution. My relatives in rural Missouri love the Cards and watch them all the time.

Didn’t the Cards used to have one of the more-lucrative TV contracts in MLB due to their good regional support?

I don’t believe even with regional support, the Cardinals cable contract is anywhere close to the
Mets, Dodgers, Yankees, etc. contracts.

I vote for a Disco Demolition Night

Other possibilities?

When rosters expand, sign Waino to a 1-game contract and see if he can win number 201.

Actually play the Savannah Bananas.

Exploding Base Night. One base will explode at some time during the game. No one will know which base at which time. Free surgury if someone loses a leg.

Honor the 1985 NL Champs by putting them on the field. Instead of the real team. Hell, they might win.

Maybe they should. I was at the game last night — the place was packed, it was loud and energetic, full of young people and families, everyone was having a great time and their team was dominating. They must be doing something right.

If we ended up with that atmosphere in STL, they could have 81 Pride Nights a year for all I care.

This is Mo's last year. Oli will likely be fired at the end of the season. These two things will help but they need more than this. A new manager might help. I would not bring in Yadi as the manager because his focus seems to be more his family and Puerto Rico but I could see his hiring exciting the fan base.

The Cardinals need to start winning again but even that I don't think will be enough. They need some exciting players. I would hope that the Cardinals would try to trade for Spencer Jones. I know the Yankees are unlikely to trade him but if the Cardinals could put a package together without including JJ I think the fan base would be excited. We could have Jones & JJ which would be two young exciting players.

I think it is time to move on from Walker, Noot & Gorman. Walker is sort of built like Dave Winfield but he isn't that type of player. He is what he is but he is never going to be the player that everyone thought he was when he was at the top or near the top of the prospect list years ago. Noot and Gorman are always hurt. That isn't going to change.

I would move on from Pagés. He can't hit and never will. The Cardinals have several players in the minors who are better catchers than Pagés. I am fine with keeping Pozo unless the catchers in the minors are ready and better than Pozo. Pozo can hit. This team needs to score runs.

They need to move on from Arenado. I still enjoy watching Nolan play but most of the fan base are tired of him. He might be better than he was this past month once he is healthy but it is time to move on. He is never again going to be the player that he was when he was in Colorado.

This team needs to score more runs. Boring baseball is not fun baseball.

Bill DeWitt Jr. will be 84 later this month. I don't think he has looked healthy in a long time. I suspect his health is a bigger focus in his life than the team. I wish that he would sell but he might want to hold onto the team for the rest of his life. A new owner could potentially excite the fan base especially if it was someone who cares such as Mark Cuban.

If Junior is headed for "Field Of Dreams Land", Three Sticks is frightening, as he fancies himself as a Real Estate Guru. Time for the "For Sale" sign to appear in front of Baseball Heaven.
