I love Phil. I hate to see him go. I want him to come back. But under no circumstances do I want to pay him 20+ million dollars.

The name is Hales not Hayes.
Hales is a tightly-wound athlete who has already touched 99 mph this year, and is an anti-lefty weapon away from being big league ready. That could make for a quick ascent or a slow boil.

Not trying to get something QUALITY for Donnie is a crime, I would have taken cash only for Noot just to be rid of that poser.sdaltons wrote: ↑31 Jul 2025 17:24 pmHaha no I know. Just can't believe this is the best we could do for these guys. No, it looks like your standard this is what you get for a 32 year old journeyman middle reliever special. Not sure why anyone would expect much more.Jobu's Rum wrote: ↑31 Jul 2025 17:25 pm This looks like your standard bland Moe the clown 'quantity over quality' special.

I'm pretty sure the QO is $21.4M no matter who you are, so that's a big NO. What if they took it!

I get that, but Moe lacks creativity, he could have easily packaged Maton and Nootbaar for a top 10-15 at least. Just more mediocre bleh, which is his specialty

Maton has been good. Did cards ever discuss what extension would cost as they need same type next year and also another guy to replace helsley.

I'm sure Bloom has a very good idea what an extension looks like. But why extend him when you can get a couple of prospects and re-sign him in the off-season?Clubmaker2 wrote: ↑31 Jul 2025 17:34 pm Maton has been good. Not to mention, he has every bit as good a chance (or more) of being terrible next year than he does repeating this year. Such is the case for journeyman relievers.

Buddy he’s a rental RP. Not worth much. Couple lottery tickets and you hope your scouting/development team can hit.
Re: Maton to Rangers
Helsley yes. The other two of course not

Some decent points, but they guys you have you know if they have underlying injuries, is a plus.imyourhuckleberry wrote: ↑31 Jul 2025 17:38 pmI'm sure Bloom has a very good idea what an extension looks like. Also, since you can't tamper with your own player, the two sides could have already talked contract before the trade.
'Glad we're on the same page as far as what a future contract looks like for you. We'll be in touch in November. Good luck in the playoffs!'
