Read regularly scheduled day off plus a long sneid to boot.

TD Season..Guy gets pulled, often a sign of an impending departure. Hate to see him go, dying to see the possible return.

We will see soon enough!!

And a hearty congratulations to the Cardinals for finally beginning to understand that which I have correctly analyzed for the past 3 years: Herrera needs to be an outfielder.

Meanwhile, his idol, Pedro Pages, has 0.0 fWAR and a sub .600 OPS. And his catcher ERA has gone skyward.

In parts of 4 MLB seasons, parts of 8 minor league seasons, and three seasons in Winter ball, Herrera has never played the outfield. He had 8 games at 1b in the Latin League. Interesting.

He joins the Matt Adams, Walker, Duncan and others who've been put there.

He's got good speed and a good arm, but tracking balls in the OF is not very transferable from catcher.

Yeah he said the last time he played there he was 14.

How did Mel know if Herrera was a) not going to catch well, or b) could play OF, when he hardly got a chance to see him play? He'd played a total of 59 innings in the bigs three years ago. He only played 926 innings two years ago. He'd thrown out 28% and 38% in the minors and Winter ball. So he could not have had ANY idea.
Mel never watches MiLB (he can't afford it on his "performance coaching" fees. It's so easy to catch the Narcissist in lies.

Melville, in fact, predicted Herrera would be traded in the offseason when they released Knizner.
In June, he predicted: "Maybe there is more under the hood - but I would not bet on more upside."
Then he went on his rant about him not being a MOTO bat (when no one said he was). His HR high in the minors was 17, and not over 10 at AAA. His power is better than in the minors, but like WC, he's not a MOTO bat.
Now he's lying about predicting he'd be in the OF before anyone else.
Pathological.

That's what this team really needs. A catcher in LF. Haven't we been here and done this before? Herrera should be DH. Move Donny to LF and play Gorman at 2nd. Or Fermin or call up JJ for few games and get his feet wet.

He’s a complete fraud.
Who else on this forum extensively references their work history???
Nobody!
Question?
Does he “act” like a performance coach on CT????
LMAO.....no way!

Again....nobody.
Fraud!!

Yup, feels kinda irresponsible to just throw him out there like this. Hopefully he doesn't get injured really quickly.
I could play lf and probably rarely get injured from doing it.
Its just running- which he probably does a ton of more in all practices and training than he has to actually do in game. Theres only a few balls hit to the outfielder rach game and most the time they are routine plays that dont require full sprints.

Just cuz he had fluke injury running bases doesnt mean he suddenly cant ever run without getting injured. He probably runs harder during his stolen base attempts than he will most balls hit his way.

Heck, playing catcher was probably way more damaging to his legs than playing outfield will be.

He's got good speed and a good arm, but tracking balls in the OF is not very transferable from catcher.
In all likelihood he will be below avg defender, you just hope he isnt a terrible liability.

Honestly i didnt think wed see this til next year after hebhad full offseason and spring.

Maybe the fact hes doing it already means hes actually picking it up pretty fast

Hope he wears his helmet while in the outfield.

Well, with a heat index of about 200 degrees, he's got a great night to make his debut out there.

I will admit looking forward to seeing how he handles it.

He played the OF when he was 14. What could possibly go wrong?

But seriously, it really is just a runway season now. He might as well be learning a position now. Why wait. Herrera is more valuable with some positional flexibility rather than just a DH.
