You got to wait a bit on Mikolas

He is owed 7 million and is BDW bridge partner in Jupiter

He lasts until end of August

What did you think they would get for him in a trade?
More than nothing, for sure. He had a mid 3 ERA with a lot of innings.

Now nothing - 8 months ago a middling prospect.

You just love to support this FO.
So nothing.

Nope, I just ask what would they have gotten and who takes their place/innings. I think about more than just getting a rid of a player and how it affects the lineup, starting pitching , minors, etc...
Yes, you love to support this FO.

You continually tell everyone how worthless most of the Cardinals players are and how poor Oli is stuck with a crummy roster.

One guy has been in charge of the roster for the past 18 years, yet you never seem to take him to task for that crummy roster.
Im not an entitled fan. We've been blessed with multiple WS, winning records and fairly consistent playoff appearances. Better than all but a handful of teams in MLB.

Plus, it's just baseball. Not ruining my life or days

Funny, I've been called a hater of the FO too. Guess it's which passionate bias you rant for

I do blame the FO, obviously, by stating there is no one worth keeping on the roster, building around, or that you go out of your way to see them play

Should’ve been shown the door right along with him. Why wait? Rotation can only be same or better. Addition by subtraction always a no-brainer.

That assumes that another team wanted to trade for him.
There would have been interest with his relative modest salary and the year he had. Now teams wpuldnt have given a total haul because it could have been a fluke vs rest of his career. If he performed the same this year there could ha e been a bigger haul at the deadline as he would now have more solid history as #2 and last year not being a fluke. That is what mozeliak gambled on. He lost the gamble.
He wasnt quite as effective after the trade deadline. But still not bad. Everyone saw that. Having seen Mikolas' regression in year 2 and later in 2023, only a stubborn *ss would continue to tempt the risk of regression on another washout that came back with a good seasonm (Being out for most of 2020-2021), Mikolas was effectively new again when he had a strong 2022.

Bloom would have probably hedged his bets and cashed out in the offseason on Fedde.. But Mo has this sick need to prove how smart he is. Rather than own up to his limitations.

You see brock here knows more than the other 29 GMs/POBOs in MLB - those guys had no idea, not even an inkling that Fedde was what brock saw, so we would have got a straight up HAUL of prospects.

The irony there is what’s left of the fanbase that actually wants to buy tickets are almost certainly checking the schedule and mapping out when MM pitches to avoid purchasing tickets to that game.

I have been saying this all along that the fan interest could be restored to some extent if the FO would just show they are as sick of this chit show as we are. And sometimes it’s not even about going out and getting a big name via trade. People aren’t coming to your house not because you don’t have a big screen TV or a swimming pool. It’s because you don’t put out your trash and just let it rot inside allowing the stench to become more unbearable. And are seemingly perfectly ok with it.

Dewitt can empty out a lot of trash starting with Mo but seems fine with all the empty seats. Oh well

No, I doubt it...they are looking who they are playing on the opposing team, that they really want to see play

Yes....at the time it made more sense to go for a SP than Edman.
I liked Edman but he would be redundant on this roster.
And honestly that wrist injury he had concerned me long term.
And no way is he worth that contract.
All trades are gambles.
LOL....I always love the “20/20 hindsight “ on any transaction.
That’s already $7.5M off the books for 2026 with more to follow before next season.

some trades have a winner and a loser --- some have 2 winners --- that one had 2 losers, the 5 yr $74 million contract won't age well on Tommy.

Nobody is saying that. He was an inexpensive risk. If he pitches close to what he had done, he's a steal. At worst, he is a limited risk. He flames out and you have only 3M left and no years left. Thats enough to toss a mid level team prospect and maybe a lottery ticket at.

It was a stupid trade to begin with. Fine to trade Edman and fine to trade him for a SP but it was a (bleep) return and I said that then.

Now we have nothing to show for it, as so often happens with young players who come through this organization.

Assume no other team picks up Fedde's option. So he either gets released outright or sent to the minors to recover.

Do you invest in development of Fedde anymore in the minors? I'm vote no. Just a quick cut. Thanks and good luck.

It will be ditto for Nikolas, when the time comes.
