Montreal is not #1. The idea of the Expos coming back is just nostalgia. They would need to build a new stadium, and the last article I read about it said there are no plans to build one.

Portland really wants a MLB team.

I mean, their proposed ballpark does look pretty awesome.

it's really bad right now.

– Major League Baseball believes the strongest two expansion markets remain Salt Lake City, Utah, and Nashville, with no plans to put an expansion franchise back into Oakland.
There are over 5M people in San Antonio/Austin - and they are only about 75 miles apart.
Entire area is growing like crazy and that won't change.
Domed stadium just north of San Antonio would be perfect for MLB.
Montreal should be back in the mix as well.
Nashville?
Maybe - but limited future upside.
Salt Lake City?
Terrible.
The Rangers and Astros will not be supportive of this…
That is pretty much always true with expansion - someone objects.

Contraction wouldn't be a bad thing either.
Should Cards be worried if contraction on the table? Lol

Not quite yet. A relocation to an area outside of the City or County might be a very prudent investment. (bleep) the Nostalgia. If people are scared or reluctant to go to the current location then you change the location.

BDWJr will fight tooth & nail not to let Nashville in since he draws from Tennessee which has been Cardinals country for decades (Braves won't like it either since they have fans there as well).
Really, Montreal #1?? Even with good players they didn't do well or last--Canada is not much of a baseball country
Really

Tampa needs to move or contract. The stadium in Vegas isn't even close to being ready. White Sox need to move.

Indianapolis and Portland should be considered if they have stadiums.

Expansion in 20 years.
