Specifically you brought up bat to ball skill. Surely you could simply acknowledge that Fermin is stronger in that department considering it’s been clearly demonstrated to be true.Cardinals4Life wrote: ↑23 Jul 2025 00:17 amChange the subject??? Saggese won a batting title in AA. He is still adjusting to MLB in limited action. Fermin, though not given much of a shot yet either, is just a fill piece. An Old Friend wrote: ↑22 Jul 2025 09:01 amBetter baserunnerCardinals4Life wrote: ↑22 Jul 2025 08:50 amNoAn Old Friend wrote: ↑22 Jul 2025 07:58 amFermin is a better baseball player today than Saggese is, though.moose-and-squirrel wrote: ↑22 Jul 2025 07:54 amFermin seems like a useful Utility player, but seems redundant with Sagasse (sp?) aroundAn Old Friend wrote: ↑22 Jul 2025 07:42 am
Fermin should get a look but I don’t think they’re gonna move anyone at the deadline that would give him a lane for playing time.
The other 5, yea, all gone.
Better bat to ball
Better plate discipline
Better defense
How does that refute anything I said?
Oh, that’s right. It doesn’t.
Saggese may end up better, but he’s not today.
K-rate:
Saggese - 23.8% (45 Ks in 42 games / 189 PA)
Fermin - 7.7% (19 Ks in 55 games / 247 PA)
Zone contact rate:
Saggese - 78.8%
Fermin - 94.0%
Swinging strike rate:
Saggese - 13.3%
Fermin - 2.9%
I never claimed that Saggese had "poor bat to ball skills". I said that Fermin has "better bat to ball" skills, and he very clearly does by a wide margin.
Listen - it isn't an insult to Saggese. It's just an honest and true assessment. There is NO WAY that you can argue that Saggese has better bat to ball skills than Fermin.![]()
You could’ve added, “yeah, you’re right, had no idea about Fermin.” But that’s a lot to ask, I guess.
I don’t think Saggese ends up a regular for the Cardinals unless they trade Winn and keep Wetherholt at SS.
Still talking about Sagesse and Fermin.
I disagree with your opinion on who the better player is. No big deal.
Time will tell.
