You know, I used to listen to them a lot more on the radio in the 1970s when they were not very good. They had their moments and they also seemed to have a better defined quality although, like today, they had real problem with talent eval and development. Buck/Shannon were doing the radio calls so I suppose that made a difference, but I don't know that it made those seasons that were a slog really dynamic. I think Jim Woods was in there for a year or two -- he always sounded like gravel.

And on TV it was Jay Randolf, occassionally Buck and Bob Starr and god only know who else.

But the one thing today that makes the TV broadcasts curdle is Brad Thomson an his inane blathering. For those who used to owned old turntables, he is like a recording at 33 that is played at 78.

I'm with you, OldRed. I especially enjoy listening when I'm out on the property doing work. My wife knows that every Friday night I'll be out on my tractor with a cold beer and the Cardinals game on. It's one of those joys in life that remain even when the team isn't doing well.
You do not want to be that predictable.

The Back Door Man thrives and survives on predictability. Don't be predictable.

Not a message specific to you. As I know your sweetie is the sweetest and most trustworthy of em all. They all are.

Yet, The Wisdom of The Ages can be found in that Chosen 1st Cautionary Tale.

He gave of himself, a rib, and She, back when She's were Shes, ruined his World and ours ever since.

Could have Chosen Any Story yet they chose that one. Smart Men pay Heed to that.

Mix up your plowing routine or may find yourself with a competing plower. Not you necessarily, simply using you as illustrative example, based on your stated predictability. Simply a Reminder for us all, don't forget that 1st Story of Man. And his Downfall!!!

No, it ain't baseball. But it is about Ballin. And it's Important Stuff!!!

This thread was hi-jacked talking about the minor leagues when the intent was the St. Louis Cardinals.

Cranny:
Maybe expand your horizons? Wetherholt is hitting .421 at Memphis. Church is hitting .366. And Mathews struck out 7 in 3 2/3 innings yesterday.

I sent you a PM on a tragic death in our area from a former resident of Sikeston I thought you may have known him.

The issue is cranny hi-jacked this tread and continuously posted off subject of the Cardinals.

Dawg - The issue is a poster who was told to put me on ignore, and not have contact, still follows me around like a little puppy dog. I really pity the guy’s obsession. I have him on ignore, as I was told to do, and he will stay that way.

I agree Red- have been listening to or watching Cardinals for so long it is hard wired into summer for me. I always check to see when the games are and now what channel I need to have to watch. Nowadays I have a backup plan for something else to do or watch when the games go south. I do check back and sometimes watch the rest of the game but some of them are just too bad to sit through.
