It feels that way because you think the team's goal is winning. Their goal is actually maximizing profit and long-term value. The message they send and the tactics they use change to suit circumstances, but the goal is always max profit and value. Keeping that in mind is the only chance you've got to understand what they're doing.RunSup wrote: ↑18 Jul 2025 11:47 amThere will be a shuffle around 2B and 3B between Gorman, Donovan, and Arenado. Burleson RF

Gorman 2B
Arenado 3B
Winn SS
Pages C
Scott CF
Bench
Pozo
Walker
Fermin
Hampson
Likewise there will be a shuffle between RF, DH and sometimes 1B
There are 4 starts a week for both Walker and Gordon.
If Hampson or Fermin see any time in RF or LF, Oli has screwed this up and should be fired for incompetence.
This is still a runway season. Dont be fooled. They are pretenders, not contenders in 2025. Just look who the SP is 3 out of 5 games. Plus Libby is getting gassed.
And trading Helsley, Maton and Matz by the deadline is just the smart thing to do. I don't expect the Cardinals to be smart here. They are conflicted and wish washy.
If we traded him to Atlanta I would hope it’d be in a bigger deal for someone like Strider or Austin Riley.
This last stint lilkely got Saggese on the potential trade list. Especially, considering Wetherholt is on the way.
I don't mind an occasional jab but this is just an opinion.Interesting. Do you have basis to this or just opinion? Not taking a jab, genuinely intrigued.
Nothing wrong with aiming high but come on. You don't often see stars and iffy youngsters swapped even up and what else do the Cards have to offer in a bigger deal that Atlanta could use? Donovan I guess if they bail on Albies. Liberatore? Winn? That would be a big one. Winn would get their attention but I think it'd take a lot more to pry loose either player you mentioned. If we traded him to Atlanta I would hope it’d be in a bigger deal for someone like Strider or Austin Riley.
Obviously when I say “bigger” deal I’m not talking about even up.jcgmoi wrote: ↑18 Jul 2025 12:39 pmNothing wrong with aiming high but come on. Right now, they're trying to rebuild while pretending they are competing.

LF) Nootbaar
2B) Donavan
C) Herrera
1B) Contreras
DH) Burleson
RF) Walker
3B) Gorman
SS) Winn
Cf) Scott
I’d love that lineup. When Arenado is healthy make sure Gorman and Burleson play 5 games a week.
Seems like we can field both hitters and fielders but not too many hitters who can field or fielders who can hit. Maybe the Cardinals can talk the league into employing NFL style offensive and defensive team system?Shady wrote: ↑18 Jul 2025 13:44 pm"If only Herrera could catch". Walker is still just 23 (he's only ~6 months older than JJW who everyone is convinced is an untouchable second coming). No way I'd trade him for relief help in a year when this team has a 0% chance to beat any of the 6 best teams in the league in a 7 game series.jcgmoi wrote: ↑18 Jul 2025 12:39 pmNothing wrong with aiming high but come on.
