Mo put together a team with a bunch of players with 0 trade value and kept fedde when he should have traded him in the off season when he had value he’s kept helsley and is keeping him as his value continues to go down
I don't get the fascination with trading your closer when you are in a playoff race?

Playoff race? Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha! You funny dude.
Check the standings, guy. What do you call it?
I call it mediocrity. In the National League there are 7 teams with records better than ours and 7 teams with records worse than ours. We are...(drumroll please) in the middle. We are also fading. Our record reflect this. Our position in the standings reflect this. Our ranking in hitting and pitching reflect this. We are currently out of a playoff spot, in the middle, and fading. That's what I call it. We can always hope for better though.

We are definitely mediocre....but mediocre gets into the playoffs now. So, even though we aren't great, we are still in the midst of a playoff race.

Mediocrity is Mo's goal. Its BDW's goal. The new Cardinal Way!

So what do you want to do? Keep being mediocre and hope for something good, or shoot for something better even if it is harder and requires some patience? Good is often the enemy of great.

I don't completely disagree with you. I understand what you're saying. I was basically saying that we are still in playoff race.

I would rather keep Helsely and add at the deadline to try and win this year. We can still try and win next year too. This shouldn't affect that.

Sounds like maybe we agree about where the team is at, but disagree about what to do about it

It was widely known this off-season that the Cardinals were only listening to offers on Arenado. Mo even acknowledged that fact with his top 3 priorities statement being Arenado, He wasn’t taking offers on Helsley, Matz or Feddee much to the amazement of other GM’s and writers.

Helsley was surprised to be back.

Maybe, But that doesn't mean that getting worse makes you better.

No need to rush trading Helsley.

He's the ONE piece the Cardinals have they can keep almost to the last week of the trading deadline and still get the same return they'd get dealing him today.

Hang on to him...........see where the team stands that last week of the deadline.

If they're in the hunt, then keep him unless the return is special and go for a playoff spot.

If they appear to be fading, then trade him.
