The last Cub series several posters were 'hoping ' that somehow the Cardinals could muster a win vs. Cubs. The Cardinals offense had been a bit sluggish entering that series. Then they hit 7 HR's in those first two games . You just never know in baseball . You can go from not getting any runs to getting them in bunches.
Balls need to find the holes in the infield and liners get to the gaps in the outfield.
and ... since those 2 games we have been shut out in 5 of 8

Well, to be fair, maybe they are trying to maximize the number of Gray starts before the ASB. So he pitched Wednesday against the Pirates, could start Tuesday against the Nats on 5 days' rest and then Sunday vs. the Braves on 4 days' rest.

It appears that the Cards are stuck with Mikolas and Fedde for the rest of 2025. Not just because they are not valued by a contender. But because, other than McGreevy, Memphis doesn't have any starters that are MLB-ready and can handle the innings that Mikolas and Fedde would take. Those two are at least durable innings eaters, even if they do it at a 4-5 ERA pace.

Good points. If they just take up 5 innings per start, is that enough. Does that satisfy innings eater.

Oh I know. My point was he gave up two while in the game, and the reliever gave up two, that were properly credited to Gray, making four total. I was sayin should have left him in, might have just given up the two had he gotten out of it.
