162 game season? True, but if we lose today, the first 2 wins of the series will have meant nothing. Seems like we played with no heart last night. I know I'm going to butcher his name, but Shoda Imanagua is coming back for the Cubs on like a 75 pitch count limit. He throws high fastballs in the low to mid nineties. Should be ready for that and knock him around. Need to get this win to kinda get into their heads like they did to us in 2015? when we won over 100 and they beat us in the playoffs. Madden managed the Cubs perfectly that year. It's time for Marmol to step up for the Redbirds. Just win, baby.
Imanaga was tough today. I wish Lib had his deception. Today wasn’t really a must win, but the next 18 games before the trade deadline (13 home, 15 road) will decide the Cards direction for the rest of the season. Hanging around near the third wildcard will not inspire the front office to abandon the reset. First place in the NLC will.

When you are a team just off the fringe of being playoff worthy, every game is important.
The Cards cannot afford to slump for very long and can't afford to give away many close games.
They need to plug the areas of greatest deficiency... which has primarily been RF and the bullpen.
-15 Walker --- on IL; maybe Burleson can stay hot?
-9 Graceffo --- in AAA; O'Brien, Granillo, Svanson may be better?
-8 Fernandez --- in AAA; O'Brien, Granillo, Svanson may be better?
-5 Roycroft --- in AAA; O'Brien, Granillo, Svanson may be better?
-4 King --- still here; O'Brien, Granillo, Svanson may be better?
-3 Munoz --- in AAA; O'Brien, Granillo, Svanson may be better?

Not only did they not win but they can't even score a run.
