can this be true? it says Baez is 6'3" 220 lbs. and he's stolen 98 bases, caught 14 times in 5 seasons, including 20 and 2 at peoria this year and 4 and 1 so far at Springfield. sounds crazy for such a big guy to be such a good base stealer.
Judge played CF. Ohtani had 50+ SB

I think the key will be to see if he can keep progressing to Triple A this year, hopefully. If so and does well there, we may have a future stud. Dude is still young and maybe it just took a while for the light to come on. Having new leadership over the minors, maybe they found some things. I mean the guy came from the Northeast, not exactly known for baseball roots, so maybe he was also getting adjusted to players at his playing level too.
He should not go to AAA this year. If you think of that as "the key", your expectations are completely out of whack.
Maintaining plate discipline and getting to respectable contact rates in AA are of immense importance.
I do agree with your bottom part, but in terms of growth, I think if we see him in Triple A, that means we saw he continued w/ plate discipline & contact rates. I don't know how much longer he is on until we have to put him on 40 man or risk losing him. I just think if we see he continues, we are saying a possible stud in the making. JMO.
He needs to be added to the 40-man this offseason to protect him from Rule-5.
He should spend the rest of the season in AA.

He's thick, I'd be surprised if he's still only 220...
I've watched him in several games and questioned his height on this site, which has been listed at 6"4"(240 lb) and now 6'3" (220 lb).
We'll know if he reaches a team with ABS. I'd guess 6'2" and 220. He's solid muscle, as some of his photos on Instagram depict - a few with him lifting weights.

I saw him a lot in Spring Training 2023 and snapped this photo of him next to Bernal who is listed at 6'0" (a beast).

The listed heights (not weight) of minor league players, as well as those of MLB players, have come under scrutiny since the ABS system was introduced.
Noot went from 6'3" to 6'1"; Wynn from 5'11" to 5'9"; Burly lost 2" to 6'0; Donny 2" to 5'11". Walker is still 6'6"!
Unfortunately, many websites still list the old data, rather than the ABS data. Fangraphs has a few articles on this topic and lists some of the major changes in players' heights - again, in MLB and AAA and select FSL teams, with changes of up to 4 inches.

This started last year. He was having a putrid year in Peoria and was put on tge development list. He spent time at the Florida complex for around a month and was reassigned to Palm Beach. I have no clue what adjustments were made but he had a .950 ops in 15 games and a 1.182 ops in 5 playoff games. I was anxious to see if it would carry over and he's been even better than last year.

His high Flyball Rate and Strikeout rate became a high ground ball rate and better line drive rate this year.
It's an incredible fix....completely turned it around

I'm not exactly sure....but I know he had access to several new hitting instructors the Organization hired this recent off-season

Good article on Baez. Seems more mental approach change than mechanical
