When he's ready to come up he will be blocked at 2b with Donovan and Saggese waiting and with Arenado and/or Gorman at third and Winn at SS it seems like we either trade to make space for him or find another spot for him. We know he can play 2b, SS and third. I'd appreciate Craviduce and others weighing in on Weatherholt as a center fielder. Just a thought.
Why not Hurdy Gurdy in LF and JJ at second? Might just be the best double play combo we've had since Smith & Herr.
Not sure why everyone is going nuts about Donny moving from 2nd

Yeah, I don't get it. Hurdy Gurdy plays a fine second base and a fine left field.

As stated, IMO he has an improved ability to stay on the team longer in LF.
The Cards haven't paid for 2B when having alternatives.

And can we please allow VSII his struggles at the plate like the vast majority of rookies do before they get settled in?

The kid is playing Gold Glove caliber defense in CF (+6 DRS/+7 OAA) so he's been an asset even as he struggles to learn ML pitchers.

Seems like a really smart kid, he'll make the adjustments.

Little patience
Need a little patience, yeah
Just a little patience, yeah
Some more patience
I think Scott will come around offensively, but, if he doesn't, the GG isn't enough. My guess is that Chase Davis will be his best competition for CF.

Davis is plummeting. Batting .219 with a .687 OPS. He plays a great CF but the bat has been a problem it seems.

if saggese is blocking him, there's bigger problems
+1

Saggese is not in his way.

Yes, he is struggling. My guess is he will get an adjustment and become that CF threat I was referring to....

I don't see Davis ever pushing VSII, he's struggling badly (.219 .350 .337 .687) in AA.

I'm not as high on Davis as you, don't see him being the solution in CF.

Check in with duce. Davis is a phenomenal fielder and has power. He seems streaky, but has real tools.

Both Davis and Weatherholt are recent #1 draft picks. That’s wonderful to have two potential impact player a year or two away. Weatherholt is tearing up AA and Davis is struggling. I’m hoping they both live up to their potential. All I’m saying is we are pretty set on the infield and it wouldn’t hurt to have JJ play some CF in case Davis and Scott continue to struggle offensively
