It's been a free fall ever since. The exit velocities just aren't there. Swing and miss has set in, too. He got hot in June last season, after working through several swing changes, I don't know what to make of him now...hopefully, he can fix things soon

Bernal has no trouble catching on one knee and popping up to nail runner trying to nab 2B. So good at that.

Paige is the ghost runner at 2B

Both will be very good players for the Cards in a few years.
I’m not sure if I can say that about any other Cards’ prospects.
I remember your assessment from Spring Training 3 years ago on Bernal....you had me hooked on him ever since. :D
He is skimmer and in much better shape than he was then. His stance and intense look while at bat: I love it.

just finished watching it
among other things, two things popped:
Chase Davis was really bad batting.
Bernal's throw to nab a would-be base stealer was stellar

JJ and Bernal two top players. They would be easy to trade and would bring back a nice return. But that type player is hard to let go of. I'm looking forward to them both playing for the Cardinals. DO NOT trade them.

I doubt ANYBODY is advocating trading them. Perish the thought.

Hoping they’ll be in our starting lineup for a long time.

The only untouchables for me right now are Winn and Mathews.

A non-SS IF with questionable power is not necessarily a foundational piece for a strong ballclub.

a high contact player is tho, and something this teams needs badly

We are currently 5th in contact rate, 2nd in zone contact rate, and 4th in batting average. I’m not sure high contact is necessarily something this team needs badly. We need HR power badly.
