His underlying numbers are almost all much better than they have been.
I wouldn't be opposed to Gorman being at 3B for a couple months. Just to get a better feel for where he's at as a young player.

Monsieur De Treville wrote: 05 Jun 2025 19:19 pm So hear me out...this was the year we were going to play a guy like Norman Gorman nearly every day. He just turned 25...it's now or never to see what we have.

What the Hades happened? I get it...they didn't trade Nado. And when Norman did get a chance he didn't thrive. But come on...in his last 7 games he has a .978 OPS. His last 15 games his OPS is a respectable .733. He hits a home run on Tuesday and we have a double header and Oli can't get him in the lineup?

I know, I know...two lefties. But allow me to point out that Norman has, up until the last year or so, always played against lefties in his pro career. Let's also face it...Nado isn't hitting a lick. We couldn't give him a blow during game 2? Or put Hurdy Gurdy in Left with Noot in right for game 2 with Norman at second?

The point of this rant? I don't know if Norman Gorman will ever be a successful mlb hitter. I really don't...but...there can be no doubt that he is being criminally mishandled by Oli and the Cards! It looks like we won't learn a dern thing about this kid until he goes somewhere else where he can play everyday.
I really hope we look back on 2025 as the year of the monster Gorman second half. But obviously that is very unlikely. But to your point, this has always been MOs issue is the inability to commit to a strategy. They talked about doing a reset and letting the young guys play and trading some assets and then NOTHING in the offseason. Like they just can't commit one way or the other.

Yes. Been screaming from the mountaintops since he got back from the IL. How Gorman doesn’t get one start of a doubleheader is mind blowing. I hope he goes someplace else and launches 40 for 5 straight years.

He's striking out at just a slightly higher rate at the MLB level than your dreamboat/latest obsession is at AAA Memphis:

Player/K%
Gorman (MLB): 28.3%
Saggese (AAA): 25.3%

Oli desperately wants to keep his job so his focus is short term. He doesn't trust Gorman so he frequently sits him. Bloom on the other hand has a longer term focus. I'm sure he would like to see if a high ceiling player in Gorman could be a core player going forward. If this continues tension could develop between Bloom and Oli. Maybe Bloom will clear runway for Gorman with a trade.

The Cardinals need to get on the phone with Tampa Bay and see what they did to turn around Jonathan Aranda.

WTH did that scrub even get called up? Saggesse has done nothing but mash here and can play multiple positions and bleh...

Criminal. Absolutely criminal. lol
So you're good with Villade getting two starts and Gorman receiving 0? It's absolutely insane...Gorman has 62 career home runs in 1149 ABs and just turned 25. And Oli has him buried on the bench.
When the only players to have received less PA's than NG are fill in, injury replacements and waiver wire
claims, your position is impossible for me to disagree with.

Cause they want Saggese getting regular ABs, and they're not ready to demote Gorman yet while Saggese would take even more ABs from him.
