The one-trick pony scours the internet for any and all content that gives him even the slightest chance to slam Army, all under the guise of "talking hockey". It's incredibly tiresome, and not to mention annoying to see the forum clogged with so much mindless bull[shirt].sdaltons wrote: ↑23 May 2025 10:36 amWell some rando talked about it on a blog or podcast so now we have to have a thread here!!Frank Underwood wrote: ↑22 May 2025 22:33 pm Trade a 35-goal guy with 5 or 6 years left on his deal for the rights to a pending UFA? That is so ridiculous that it can ONLY come from Leafs fans!

Haha, I don't believe this rumor/post at all but that's a great point. We lost in the first round without Marner…bottom line , he makes the Blues a better team. Playoffs still aren’t a lock for next year…Marner helps in that regard as well.

All this makes good hockey fan sense, EXCEPT....Lone_Ranger wrote: ↑23 May 2025 11:48 amHaha, I don't believe this rumor/post at all but that's a great point. We just heard from a fan in Toronto telling us that Matthews, Marner and others are marshmallows in the playoffs.
If Berube knowingly took control of a big bag of expensive marshmallows, why would he not then gladly swap one big expensive marshmallow for a much less expensive one? Plus, Marner was in the bag for 8 more years. It would be a big NET GAIN for Berube if he's ultimately wanting to get rid of the marshmallows. Maybe it would be the best value he ever got from Kyrou.

Re: Kyrou for Marner?
Well I'd say you can 100% guarantee Toronto would love to trade a player they no longer own for Kyrou though.Lone_Ranger wrote: ↑23 May 2025 11:48 amHaha, I don't believe this rumor/post at all but that's a great point. Re: Kyrou for Marner?
Interesting theory. You could put Buch in play. He's a Berube guy. You could put Kyrou in play. Marner and Holloway would probably click. But in this scenario, we are getting other assets back from Toronto. They would be getting an elite player in return for a UFA. We lose. Better to sign Marner outright and trade one of Buch or Kyrou if that's what you need to do. We'd get more back than we would from Toronto. Toronto has very little leverage here. We'd need a lot more or a 3rd team would need to be involved to get the proper value here.
